Re: İhtiyat'ta Yüzbaşı Swen Cederholm
I am not sure.
On that a/m page the name of Cederholm is given under Kapitaen zur See Bieler and Mj.Madlung on destoyer Peyk-i Şavket as (İhtiyat'ta Yüzbaşı Swen Cederholm) From that sentence I understand that ihtiyat was ship.
"İ" of ihtiyat is written in Capital letters. this means İhtiyat is a name. For that reason I wrote that on board of İhtiyat.
There is also another meaning: "İhtiyat'ta" =on the reserve. It can be that he was a reserve officer at the order of Turkish navy.
If İhtiyat is a ship she must be a cargo ship.
???????????

Swen Cederholm (born 13.05.1875 in Swinemünde) was the I. Officer of the German passenger steamer CORCOVADO when the ship reached Istanbul on 02.08.1914. After the ships captain Looft left the vessel he took over the command, but as a Kapitänleutnant d.R. (d.R. = in reserve) of the Germany Navy he was allocated to the "Mittelmeer-Divison" for supervising the conversion of the Ottoman steamship NILÜFER into a minelayer. He was the German Co-Commander when the NILÜFER sank on Russian mines 10 miles noth west of the Bosporus. On 22.11.1914 some wreck parts, a life-belt and the bodies of two German seamen found near Şile. All of her crew of 55 Ottomans and 8 Germans died.

Yes, there seems to be sometimes different figures about the death tolls. "Mine" are from the official German report included in the "Kriegstagebuch Mittelmerr-Division".
