Ahmed Pascha and Tripoli

Mates,

An Interesting comments showed up in another site which mentioned this Ottoman officer and his staff?

It deals with the French patrol boat "Nord Caper" off the coast of Tripoli who captured Ottoman prisoners?

Translated

"It is thus that Ahmed-Pasha, colonel professor at the military school of Constantinople; Loufty-bey, captain of infantry, 8 lieutenants or second lieutenants and a half-company of Turkish regulars surrendered to two officers and 10 French sailors. Surcouf himself would not have disowned such a feat."

I could not confirm who these men are, do you have any details on this action?

Cheers

Hi Steve,

Interesting detail description!

• What is the source of this statement?
• Do you know a date, or at least a rough time frame that could define the operation detailed?
• A more precise location would also be helpful.

Cheers Holger

Mate,

What I can see

"This from pages 14-18:

The date is around late 1915

This claims his name is Ahmed Fehmi

Impressive; - I didn't know that you already had all of this information. So I have to thank you.

Very interesting detail background. Maybe I will find further names here:

Mate,

Surely they must be known as the three seated Officers at lest one is a Cavalry officer and Two have the Iron Cross 2 class.

So they must have possibly seen service on Chanakale

Some press articles had his name as Ahmed Fehmi Bey.
Could it be a result of wrong translation as Bey also means Mr. ?

Hi GregSingh,

Good work. Thanks for posting.
But as far as I understand, there is still no specific date for this action?

Cheers Holger

November 7th, 1915

French patrol boat "Nord Caper" off the coast of Tripoli who captured Ottoman prisoners?
According to the captain of the "Nord Caper", the incident happened near Crete, 10 miles east of Koufonisi island. Raport also mentioned one Turkish officer by name: Loutfi-Bey.
