Memories of Reserve Officer Capt.Mucip (Kemalyeri)" Çanakkale Ruhu Nasıl Doğdu" (How The Sprit of Çanakkale (Gallipoli) appeared?)

Askeri Mecmua (Military Magazine) Dec. 1st 1935 Nr. 40, p. 55
"Right wing and 3rd and 4th companies of 3rd battalion attacked to Australian who were on Edirne Hill and drew them back to Northwest. Continued to follow them. But at the south of Hill 180 between Kılıçdere and Kesikdere they met a great enemy force. They were faceing each other between 100-200 meters in a heather land. In some points they were more closer to each other. They fought fiercely. Halis Bey the commander of the 3rd Battalion was taken back because of wounds. Galip Bey from Çengelköy/İstanbul, the commander of 4th Company was also wounded at the early stage of the fights. The worse situation of the 4th company was at the front of the two teams commanded by two young and unexperienced officer cadets Mucip Efendi and Medeni Efendi. Both teams fought againts the Australans hours. They nailed them on their spot not allowing them to make a step forwards."

After the battle Mucip Efendi was promoted to under Lt.

Mucip Efendi enlisted the army at the beginning of WW1 while educating at the University of Istanbul. He was made officer cadet and given to the order of 27th Regt. During the battles he was promoted two times. He was released at the end of WW1 as Captain. He was decorated with a War Medal (Harb Madalyası) and a Silver Distinguished Madal.

TS's Nota: How Mucip Efendi got the family name Kemalyeri.
Mustafa Kemal was directing the attack on an unnamed place.Under Lt. Mucip Efendi was by his side waiting for orders. A staff officer asked Mustafa Kemal what he should call the place while informing the situation to the HQs. As a young, anxious and enthusiastic Under Lt. Mucip Efendi replied quickly without any hesitation
"Kemalyeri" (Place of Kemal).
From that moment the place was named as "Kemalyeri" and will be forever "Kemalyeri"

On the other side Gen. of the Army Fahrettin Altay mentions in his memories that he was the person who named the place as Kemalyeri.
