An identified Turkish officer with Fieldmarshall Ahmet İzzet Paşa and Mustafa Kemal Pasha (commander of 7th Army) at Halep in 1917

Captain of Gendarmary Yusuf Ziya Bey from Kilis or well known as Aslan Bey borned in 1884 in Kilis. His farher was captain of the Gendarmey Ali Efendi. He graduated from military scholl as a NCO. He fought at Libya/Trablusgarb againts Italians in 1911. In WW1 he served as a NCO of Gendarmery. As the armistrace was signed he was in Kilis. He there resisted a movement againtsBritish and French. For that reason was nicknamed as Aslan Bey (the Lion) During the Republican time he promed to the rank of captain. Died in Nov. 6th 1942.
Yüzbaşı Aslan Bey, 1884 yılında Kilis'te doğdu. Babası Jandarma Yüzbaşı Ali Bey'dir. Asıl adı Yusuf Ziya olup, Antep ve Kilis cephelerinde gösterdiği kahramanlıkları sebebiyle kendisine Aslan Bey denilmiştir.
1911 yılında Trablusgarp'da İtalyanlara karşı Derne Cephesinde, I. Dünya Savaşında Jandarma çavuşu olarak Kilis ve Antep cephelerinde , büyük başarırları görülmüştür. 17 Şubat 1921'de Antep şehrindeki taarruza katılan Aslan Bey'e başarılarından dolayı İstiklal Madalyası verilmiş ve yüzbaşı olmuştur. 6 Kasım 1942 yılında vefat etmiştir.

A Turkish officer called İsmail Bey wrote the following letter on an iron cross imaged mailing paper which was given as present to Turkish officers by germans to his brother Vasıf Bey and his cousen Affan from the front Kemikliburun (Kemikli point) near Anafartalar (Suvla) 0n August 3/4 1915.

Abdul Aziz Yamulki
(b.21/12/1890, d.25/7/1981) was the son Kurd Mustafa Pasha Yamulki and an Ottoman military officer. After the fall of the Ottoman empire he became a member of the new Royal Iraqi military. Aziz was born in Sulaymaniah.
The Yamulkies were a prominent Kurdish family of Sulaymaniah, Aziz was born into a privileged life, he moved to Constantinople and lived in his father's palace and attended the Ottoman military academy. He entered the Ottoman military but soon fled with his father when the Kemalists took power. After the creation of the Iraqi state and given his family and his education he joined the Iraqi military.
