Mates,

A discussion on the other site mentions this German officer commanding the 25th Div;

Eggert commanding 25th Division

I know he's seen Eggert spelled Eckert and I have no idea which is correct

Klaus's Anhang 2 is on pages 233-74, more than 40 pages long. And it only seems to be officers.

Eggert (there is no Eckert) - "Eggert Preuss. Hauptmann z. D. 1914/1918 Im Frieden als tuerk. Major Lehrer an der Tuerk. Kriegsakademie, im Kriege als Major Generalstabschef des 1. Armeekorps, zuletzt Kommandeur der tuerk. Infantrie=Div. 25 in Rumaenien. Nach Rueckkehr aus Tuerkei als Major zuletzt Chef Gen.-Stab Gen.-Kdo 51, gest. 1939 als Obersleutnant a. D."

On checking all known records I can't find where Eggert commanded the 25th Div?

Known commanders 25th Div

Col Hilmi Bey -

LtCol Ali Fuat (Cebesoy) 1-15 -

Col Sükrü Ali Bey 9-16

shown Oct 1918 Allied reports LtCol Chukri or (Sukru) 9-18

When did Eggert command the 25th Div?

all mentions shown he commanded the 25th Div in the fighting in Romania but Col Sükrü Ali Bey is the known commander during that time?

Any ideas?

Steve,

I can't confirm the dates of his divisional command but can supply a first name: Hans Eggert. He was a member of the Liman military mission and had previously served as a general staff Hauptmann on the staff of the commandant of Posen.

Mates,

I was looking at the U Boat commanders on Chavusch long list, which I ma sorry to say needs converting to English.

UB-7 Yüzbaşı Heilige, Üsteğmen Werner, Üsteğmen Lütjohann

Well its seams confussed me?

Wilhelm Werner was commander at its commissioning and took the boat to war in 1915.

He handed UB 7 over to Hans Lütjohann in 1916 and was lost (KIA 27-9-16) when Mined in the Black Sea 15 miles SE of Varna all crew lost (15 dead)

My problem is who was

Yüzbaşı Heilige

I can find no U Boat officer by that name and no one shown with UB 7 other then the two shown above?

Inquires on the U Boat Net also failed to find him?

Does any one know who he is?

Wilhelm Werner became commander U 55 in which he had 3 ships sunk with UB 7 and the rest with U 55;

63 ships sunk with a total of 130,499 GRT
7 ships damaged with a total of 26,161 GRT
2 ships taken as prize with a total of 3,466 GRTS.

Cheers

Tosun,

Yes that's what the U Boat Net alluded to, so I wanted to question the source to confirm.

Tosun,

Do you have any details on these Ottoman officers from your photo?

Ali Fuad Efendi

Kemal Efendi

I take the photo was taken when Kress commanded the 8th Army, but I can only find these German officers;

Staff officer - LtCol Herott (G) possibly Adolf Herrgott
Ops officer - Maj Wolf (G) possibly Ludwig Wolff

But who were these two German officers

Capt/Rittmeister Von Arnim
Capt Mazar

Any ideas

Cheers
