Mate,

Light Horse reports always given the Turkish Horseman as wearing these types of hats which they think look like Arab head dress.

This is why numbers of arabs (civians) get shot or taken up in LH patrols.

A Turkish POW in Arab costumes would have been probably shot by the British accused of being a spy.
