The Kaiser visits Gallipoli,16th October 1917.

Does anyone know what part of the Peninsula he visited?Or was it just around Chanak?

Hi Peter,
This place should be Anadolu Hamidiye... Almost Chanak...Because of its German personnel. (Col. Wehrle & others...) But I believe, he would be visited Mecidiye, Namazgah on the peninsula, too...

The location of Anadolu Hamidié seemed ideal. It stands right at the water's edge, and consists -or it did then- of ten guns, everyone completely sweeping the Dardanelles. Walking upon the parapet, I had a clear view of the strait, and Kumkale, at the entrance, about fifteen miles away, stood out conspicuously. No warships could enter these waters without immediately coming within complete sight of her gunners. Yet the fortress itself, to an unprofessional eye like my own, was not particulary impressive. The parapet and traverses were merely mounds.
