Lt. Col. Ali Şefik Bey ( or well known as Özdemir Bey), the hero of Antep and Revandiz.

Lt. Col. Ali Şefik was borned in 1885 at Cairo. He was a son of a Circassian emigrant from Adige Tribe. He edutated in Cairo University. As WW1 broke he joined to Ottoman Turkish Army as reserve officer. After the war he organized the fights againts the French in Syria. As the British and French occupied the Turkish main land he come to Anatolia and joined the National Forces of Mustafa Kemal Pasha. He was made the commander of National Forces fighting againts the French at Antep on August 8th.
He was ordered by Mustafa Kemal Pasha to organize a resistance at British occupied Musul in Irak.
After the liberation he was made MP from Gaziantep. Died in Ankara in 1934.

My late father Maj. Gen. Ahmet Hulki Saral writes in his book "Türk İstiklal Harbi, Cilt IV, Güney Cephesi, (Turkish War of Liberation, Vol.IV, South Front)Ankara, 1966 between the pages 265-278.
In short:
"The English planes were bombing the unarmed inhabitants of the villages and towns pitiless. Their objective was to pressurize the people and to provake the upheavel againts Turks. Turkish troops in Köysancak and Ranya had to retead." For that reason Mustafa Kemal Pasha ordered an expetition to Revandiz in Iraq under the command of Lt. Col.Ozdemir Bey on Feb.1st 1922.
-Lt. Col. Ozdemir Bey and his staff departed for the front on March 9th 1922.
-On April 22nd Ozdemir Bey contacted with the Elcezire Front command in Diyarbakir and after preparations he moved to Revaniz from Diyarbakir on May 15th.
-On June 22nd they reached to Revandiz.
- They fought againts Balik tribe and took the chief prisoner on July 2nd. Ozdemir Bey forgave the Chief in order to fight againts British.
-British airplanes bombed Revandiz on July 10th
-The Revandiz Expeditionary force was given under the command of East Front on August 6th
- Sheik Mahmut refuges to Turkish national territory onAug 11st.
- Battle of Derbent on August 31st.
-Between September 1922 and April 1923 the expedionary Force gained sympaty among the tribes and gained many supporters. But they could't get reinforcement and material from Mustafa Kemal. Even an airplane company which should given to support Ozdemir bey was cancelled and send to Westtern front againts Greeks.
-An unsuccesfull British attacked towards Seytan Valleys (The devils valley) on April 8th 1923. On the same day British attacked towards Bahcelik with Armenian, Nasturian and Indian Units.
- Ozdemir Bey's forces unbushes this unit on April 11/12th
- The british brokes the Turkish defences and moves to Serderya Pass on April 19th 1923
-Ozdemir bey and his units withdrawals to Iran on April 21st 1923.
-On April 29th Ozdemir Bey enters again into Turkish soil near Ozalp.

Vatan Nasil Kurtarildi? (How Fatherland Was saved?)
I wrote this book together with my father Major General Ahmet Hulki Saral in 1970. This book tells about the Turkish Milis of Adana (Clicia), Antep Urfa, Tourus Mountains and Marash who resisted the invading British, French and their puppets Armenians after the Armistrace of Mundros in Oct. 30th 1918 which ended the Turkish WW1.
