Was he in the 5th Sqn by 1918?

And was near the island Semadirek or near Sakiz Adasi, around the island of Chios?

Sakiz Adasi is the Island of Chios, which is off Izmir

Semadirek Island is one of three main islands off the Gallipoli Peninsular, the others are Lemnos and Imbros

So two very different areas, which one is right?

Rasıt Yedek Subay İbrahim Orhan; eski Sadrazamlardan Tevfik Paşa’nın torunudur. Galatasaray Lisesi’ni bitirdikten sonra Fransa’ya giderek, Lyon Üniversitesi’nde kimya öğrenimine başlamıştı. Çok iyi yüzücü ve çok iyi motosiklet kullanıcısıydı. Osmanlı Devleti’nin Genel Seferberlik ilan etmesi üzerine, hemen askere yazılmış, Yedek Subay Talimgâhı’nda eğitimini tamamladığı sırada, kendi isteği ile hava sınıfına ayrılmış ve Ayastefanos Tayyare Mektebi’ndeki rasıt kursuna gönderilmiştir. Kursu tamamladıktan sonra, 1. Tayyare Bölüğü’nde rasıt olarak görev yapmaya başlamış ve 30 Kasım 1915 tarihindeki başarının amillerinden birisi olmuştu. Daha sonra Ayastefanos Tayyare mektebinde pilotluk eğitimine başlamış, uçuş eğitiminin devamını Almanya’da tamamlamış ve pilot olarak yurda dönmüştür. Haziran 1916 tarihinde Medine’de kurulan 3. Tayyare Bölüğü’ne atanmış ve burada iki yıla yakın görev yapmıştır. Haziran 1918 tarihinde İzmir/Seydiköy’de konuşlu 5.Tayyare Bölüğü’ne atanmıştır.
Pilot Teğmen İbrahim Orhan Bey, 13 Temmuz 1918 tarihinde Rasıt Üsteğmen Hüseyin Hüsnü Bey ile birlikte AEG5 numaralı AEG C.IV uçağı ile Sakız Adası’na keşif görevine çıktı. Sakız Adası üzerinde uçaksavar ateşi sonucu uçağın kanadı kopar ve uçak ile birlikte havacılar denize düştüler. Uçağa bağlı olmayan Rasıt Üsteğmen Hüseyin Hüsnü Bey uçaktan çıkmayı başardı ve Yunanlar tarafından fakat esir edildi. Uçağa bağlı olan pilot teğmen İbrahim Orhan Bey ise uçaktan kurtulmayı başaramayarak şehit oldu. Şehit Teğmen İbrahim Orhan Bey, Sakız Adası’ndaki Türk asıllı halkın yardımıyla Kara Ali Paşa’nın kabrinin yanına defnedilmiştir. Kabri halen oradadır. Tüm şehit havacı kahramanlarımız gibi gönüllerimizde yaşayacaktır.

Reserve Lt. Observer/Navigator İbrahim Orhan Efendi was grandson of Grandvezier Tevfik Paşa. After graduating from Galatasaray Liceum where he learned fluent french he went to France to study chemistry at Lyon Uni. As war brook out he enlisted the Ottoman turkish army. After trained at reserve officers training camp he voluntarily enlisted to air force. He was vhosen as observer and trained at Airplane School at Ayastefanos. After the training he was ransferred to 1st Airplane Company as observer. Then he wanted to be a pilot nd send to germany for piloting education.

Which makes my idea of Ibrahim Orhan Bey on the right track.

So he was lost over Chios.

Always good to confirm these men.

I now can also cross off Orhan Bey with the 3rd Sqn, as they are the same man on my list.

LIke Ibrahim Orhan Bey I show a man called Hüseyin Hüsnü Efendi with the 3rd Sqn (Tayyare Boluk)

But

Hüseyin Hüsnü Efendi pilot? Airforce 3rd Sqn 11-17 Lt Medina to Dera 1917

Possibly both men were sent to the 5th Sqn (Tayyare Boluk) from 3rd Sqn (Tayyare Boluk) June 1918?

Pilot Lt. İbrahim Orhan Efendi (wrongly he is mentioned as Bey in the turkish text) and observer 2nd Ld Hüseyin Hüsnü Efendi (Bilge) was shot over Chios by greek artillery fire. Hüseyin Hüsnü saved himself by loosing his safety belt. But İbrahim Orhan couldnot and drowned. His mortal body was taken ashone by the turkish inhabitants of the Chios and buried by ther side of a Kara Ali Paşa.
