Tosun,

Sorry no photo of Herr Doctor Graf Josef Hunyadi von Kéthely

Also I am unsure where he served to be awarded an Ottoman War Medal (So called Gallipoli Star)

If not in Turkey/Palestine then possibly with the KUK Forces along side the Ottoman Troops in Galacia or Romania?

I have many such KUK officers awarded this medal but not shown in Turkey or Palestine

As to Medical Doctors I show these two as possibly such

Romich Siegfried Lt Dr RMO KUK Artillery
Scheiner Maximillian Lt Dr RMO HQ staff KUK Artillery

Can you confirm if they are Medical Doctors?

Cheers

S.B

Graf Josef Hunyadi von Kéthely
Oh I remember know his photo is in my collection. He was hungarian noble and juristic advisor of the Kaiser. So he got the medal just for friendly relations while he visited istanbul with kayser.

viewtopic.php?f=26&t=196834&hilit=gallipoli+star
They are all high ranking Kuk officrs. They got honorary medals not fighting at turkish fronts. some got it in Galica sme in Rumenia, some just sitting at austrian Hof.

Tosun,

Thank you, yes I think thats where I saw the list, and with other sources, shown many KUK and Germans officers awarded this War medal?

Yes many I found had not served in Turkey, so the Eastern Front or honorary awards looks like the lost likely reason.

Officers like Von Hindenburg, recieved this award and he never saw the Front around Turkey.

Others like these well known German officers;

Heye Wilhelm LtCol to Col Chief of the General Staff Eastern Front (1869-1947) Pour le Mérite post war Reichswehr
Hoth Hermann Capt General staff Eastern Front (1885-1971) later WWII Panzer Col Gen Poland France Russia
Leeb Ritter Wilhelm von Col Eastern Front (1876-1956) Bavarian Boxer Rebellion Artillery officer later WWII Field Marshel Army Group North Russia
Lewinski Fritz Erich Georg Eduard von (or Erich von Manstein) Capt Eastern Front (1887-1973) later WWII Field Marshell
Lützow Kurt-Jurgen Freiherr Von Lt Eastern Front (1892-1961) from1st Brandenburg Leib-Grenadier-Regiment later WWII Maj to LtCol 89th Regt (12th Div) 1939 Poland & 1940 France to Maj Gen CO 12th Div 1941 Russia to Lt Gen 35th Corps 1943 captured 5-7-44 by Russian on Berezina

Tosun,

I tried to find Herr Docter Luger in the Austrian Army lists, but could not find him?

Do you have any more on him?

Cheers

Steve,

There is a Josef Luger in both the 1917 and 1918 'Jahrbuch für Militärärzte'. He is listed as an Oberärzte (Seniority of 1 Marz 1915) - k.k. Landsturm.
