The last 563 paged work of my distinquished friend Col. (R) Kadir Türker Geçer "Osmanlı İmparatorluğu Askeri Kıyafetleri 1816-1922 is puplished recently by Hisart Canlı Tarih Müzesi Kültür Yayınları Nr 2 www.hisartmuseum.com
It is a great work, a masterpiece in its field and a great service to turkish militatry history. The work gives detailed information in historic pictures.This work corrects all false books ever published.

Dear Pinak, My college Col. Geçer could hardly publish this book so I dont think that in the near future an english version will be published in Turkey. I hope foreign publishing houses will be informed and will publish this great work for the information of non turkish speaking historians. cheers from Ankara.

But now I'll gather some money and will buy this book in Turkish. Seems to be THE source on the matter.

Yes they did, see German crews of the Breslau and Goeben when they entered Ottoman service.

At the beginning of WW1 turkish neval personal wear fes. But Ahmet Cemal Paşa the Neval Minister and C of 4th Army invented a new head wear called Cemaliye . The new headwear was similar to Enver Pasha's enveriye.

Just received a copy. It was surprisingly difficult to source a copy and mine arrived from Istanbul yesterday. First impressions are very favorable, the illustrative matter is superb. I just need to get a better grasp on written Turkish
