Hi all,

Until recently, there was a video of what seemed to be an a cappella recording of a song titled 'Das Lied der Arbeit'. It shared neither the melody nor lyrics of the known tune with the same name, and now that the video is seemingly vanished, I would like to know if anyone recognises the melody.

The reason I believe the recording originated from the 3rd Reich is due to the chorus: the main chorus words are 'wollen aufbau'n uns für ewig, ein neues deutsches Vaterland' and in the last stanza, the chorus words are 'wollen mit dem Führer bauen, ein neues deutsches Vaterland'.

Hello,

"Das Lied der Arbeit" that you refer to (the Nazi song - not to be confused with the Socialist song of the same name) was composed by Arthur Orth, written by John Walter Rühle and dedicated to Johannes Engel in 1933. The a cappella version was recorded in Berlin for "Telefunken" on 13.12.1933 by Männerchor der NS-Fachgruppe BVG conducted by Ehrhardt Mühlberg.

If I'm not mistaken, there were three versions of this song. Two versions of the Telefunken - in one verse 1 and 4 are sung in the other all 4. As well as the version performed by the Leibstandarte (Grammophon) - in which all 4 lines are also sung.

Edit: I also found out that there is a version of Woitschach. Recorded on Kristall.
