Musikkorps der Landespolizeigruppe „General Göring“

Post by Ivan Ž. » 07 Apr 2015 02:32

The band of the Landespolizeigruppe "General Göring" receives its Schellenbaum on Hitler's birthday (20 April) 1934.

The band of Göring's police group (which later became the "General Göring" Regiment and, eventually, "Hermann Göring" Division) was at the time led by Musikmeister Arthur Bernecke (not pictured), who later conducted the band of Schutzpolizei München. The "General Göring" police band under Bernecke also made a commercial recording (to my knowledge, only one), but it's extremely hard to find.

Cheers,
Ivan

From Brian L. Davis' Uniforms and Insignia of the Luftwaffe, London, 1999, vol. 1, p. 43
The band of the Landespolizeigruppe Wecke zbV preceded by the fifers from the Corps of Drums and led by their drum-major march through the Berlin Brandenburg Gate during the first minutes of New Year's Day, 1934.
