Deutscher Kampf im Lied [medley by F. Stepani]

Hello, everyone

I'm looking for lyrics for the Telefunken recording of the medley "Deutscher Kampf im Lied". Lyrics for all songs included are quite known and I do have them, in various period songbooks or songcards. However, none of those lyrics completely match the ones sung in this particular recording.

Any help is most welcome!
Ivan

I know EXACTLY what you're talking about - the lyrics that I have differ from what I hear in the songs. I have the SS Liederbuch, Unser Liederbuch (Lieder for HJ), and Sieg Heil! (43 Marsch- und Kampflieder für Klavier), and what I have been able to scour from the web, and I have been unable to get these lyrics. Unfortunately, there does not appear to be a source to obtain the lyrics for the SA versions of these songs on the web. If I find them, I will be sure to share them with you.

Ivan, I also have this potpourri! But I was surprised. For me "Durch Groß-Berlin marschieren wir" and "Kameraden, laßt erschallen" were "Argonnerwald" and "Kaiserjägerlied". I didn't know that these classical Austro-German military songs also had Nazi versions.

Yes, most Nazi songs were actually just covers of old military or folk songs.

Cheers,

I've finally managed to write down the complete lyrics for the medley (using the period songbooks and my hearing):

folgt uns'res Banners Zug.

Es pfeift von allen Dächern, für heut' die Arbeit aus,
es ruhen die Maschinen, wir gehen jetzt nach Haus.
Daheim ist Not und Elend, das ist der Arbeit Lohn.
Geduld, verrat'ne Brüder, schon wanket Judas Thron.

sandte ihren letzten Schein, letzten Schein,
zog ein Regiment von Hitler
in ein kleines Städtchen ein.

Durch Groß-Berlin marschieren wir.
Für Adolf Hitler kämpfen wir!
Die rote Front, brecht sie entzwei!
SA marschiert - Achtung - die Straße frei!

Kameraden, laßt erschallen
ein sturmgewaltig Lied, hurra!
Den Helden soll es hallen
verstreut in Nord und Süd, hurra!

Im Osten und im Westen,
wo Hitlers Fahne weht,
ja, wir zählen zu den Besten
so lang' die Treu' besteht.

Und sieht man uns, so saget man,
wenn wir vorüberzieh'n:
Ja, das sind die 33er
Maikowski-Sturm, Berlin.

[Volk, an's Gewehr!]

Bless you, Ivan. I have been trying to figure out the words to these songs since 1968, the time that I found the potpourri on the vinyl album "Hitler's Inferno." I looked everywhere and I have played these songs thousands of times, but there were just a few words that I could never figure out, e.g., the word "Maikowski" in "Kameraden, laßt erschallen." Where did you find these lyrics?

Once again, please accept my personal thanks for sharing this information with everyone on the site.

I've simply recognized it while listening. Note that the particular recording was sung by SA-Sturm 33 (Hans Maikowski) of SA-Standarte 1, from Berlin, and that they adapted the lyrics for their own unit (it was a common practise): "...Standarte 1 zum Kampfe zieht..." and "...Ja, das sind die 33er Maikowski-Sturm, Berlin". And in the recording of the same medley sung by SA-Sturm 23 of SA-Standarte 7 they sing "...Ja, das sind die Hitlerleute von der Standarte 7".

Cheers,
Ivan

These are the lyrics for the aforementioned version sung by SA-Sturm 23/7:

Deutscher Kampf im Lied

Wir sind das Heer vom Hakenkreuz,
hebt hoch die roten Fahnen!
Der deutschen Arbeit wollen wir
den Weg zur Freiheit bahnen!

[Heraus zum Kampf]

[Wenn alle untreu werden]

Brüder in Zechen und Gruben
Brüder ihr hinter dem Pflug,
aus den Fabriken und Stuben,
folgt uns'res Banners Zug.

Es pfeift von allen Dächern, für heut' die Arbeit aus,
es ruhen die Maschinen, wir gehen müd' nach Haus.
Daheim ist Not und Elend, das ist der Arbeit Lohn.
Geduld, verrat'ne Brüder, schon wanket Judas Thron.

[Horst-Wessel-Lied]

Von all unsern Kameraden
war keiner so lieb und so gut
als unser Sturmführer Wessel,
ein lustiges Hakenkreuzlerblut.

[Du kleiner Tambour, schlage ein]

[Rot wie Blut ist unsere Fahne]

Als die gold'ne Abendsonne
sandte ihren letzten Schein, letzten Schein,
zog ein Regiment von Hitler
in ein kleines Städtchen ein.

[Durch Groß-Berlin marschieren wir]

Kameraden, laßt erschallen
ein sturmgewaltig Lied, hurra!
Den Helden soll es hallen
verstreut in Nord und Süd, hurra!

Im Osten und im Westen,
wo Hitlers Fahne weht,
ja, wir zählen zu den Besten
so lang' die Treu' besteht.

Und sieht man uns, so saget man,
wenn wir vorüberzieh'n:
Ja, das sind die Hitlerleute
von der Standarte 7.

[Deutschlandlied]

Dear Colleagues:

This site is amazing. When I was a young lad, I remembered hearing this potpourri at the end of side one of "Hitler's Inferno," an album my late brother had back in the early 1970s...

All the best,

Der Alte Kampfer

@Ivan.
I'm bumping an old thread, I know.

Any chance of me hearing that version by sturm 23/7?
I've never heard it and would love to.

Thanks
Alex

Hello, is there any chance that there is another version of the Deutscher Kampf Im Lied? Besides the Sturm 33/1, Sturm 23/7, and Carl Woitschach Orchestra version, I remember hearing a recording of it around 2 years ago if I am correct. I do not remember much from that time I listened to it. But by any chance, does this recording exist or am I just thinking of a different potpourri?

More than likely you are thinking of a different potpourri, or, theres a possibility that the recording you heard was so badly ripped from the record that it sounded differently or had been made faster or slower through digital editing to make it seem like a different version. I know this has happened to me before.

I only know of the two sets of recordings of "Deutscher Kampf im Lied".

Telefunken:
A 1393 - Woitschach's orchestra, with chorus of SA-Sturm 33/1, Berlin
A 1394 - Woitschach's orchestra, recorded as an instrumental

Electrola:
EH 825 - Musikkorps des III Batl. 9. (Pr.) Inf.-Regt., Spandau, under Adolf Berdien, with chorus of SA-Sturm 23/7, Berlin
EH 826 - Musikkorps des III Batl. 9. (Pr.) Inf.-Regt., Spandau, under Adolf Berdien, recorded as an instrumental

Cheers
Alex

Hello D-General,

I really appreciate the offer; but, in the last 4 years I've added a copy of EH 825 to my collection.

Greetings,
Alex!

Hello Alexander, I do have a recording of this.
I am also bumping an old thread, as I simply cannot find a recording of the Electrola variant of this record. All I want is to hear it to compare to the Telefunken version, but extensive searching has yielded pretty much nothing. I was hoping you could help me out here, D General, or really anyone at this point.

Thanks.
