Another good site to get this fine & proud anthem (also prominently featured in German newsreels, Casablanca and All Quiet On The Western Front) is

http://ingeb.org/Lieder/esbraust.html

TONS of other great German songs there as well!

Does anybody have or know where to find a vocal version of Die Wacht Am Rhein recorded during WWI, the Third Reich period and WWII? Thanks

Ivan,

Your knowledge of music of the Reich period is pretty amazing. Can you tell me what is this song, I really enjoyed it by the way:

Hello, B.D.

Thanks for the kind words. That is a modern recording of the old "Die Wacht am Rhein" song.

Cheers,
Ivan

Hello everyone. I am looking for a particular version of "Die Wacht am Rhein"...

From what seem to be a WW1 documentary:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o5benaE6xus

And from a Deutsche Wochenschau report:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QWx-ddCoBfY

I'm almost sure it's the same version in both video, but after searching for this song on Youtube and searching for it in many other places, I couldn't find what I was looking for, being the song itself or any helpful information. If anyone can bring some light, that would be great. Thanks to anyone who could help.

The recording I'm looking for was used in "Die Deutsche Wochenschau" #736 (October 11th, 1944). Was anyone able to identify it, or find the full song ?

I think it's best if I continue from this thread instead of making a new one. I'm just curious as to who were the ones who made this common particular recording I have presented. That'll be all, thank you everyone and have a nice day.

That's trio from Otto's march "Die Wacht am Rhein", performed by the band and chorus of the Wachbataillon der Luftwaffe. Not really a common recording. A complete recording can be found on Brandenburg Historica's CD "Marschlieder" (BH-0935). Originally released on Telefunken A 10137.

Cheers,
Ivan
