Blaue Jungs (Wir blauen Jungs sind Deutschlands Stolz...)

Post by Alarm_Uboat » 05 Dec 2022 16:32

[Topic title completed by the host, Ivan Ž.]

Marine-Marsch by E. A. Ludwig - as far as I know, there is a version of this march with words. On the Internet it can be found under the [incorrect] name "Marschlied der blauen Jungs" is there any information about this version? (lyrics).

With respect to the forum participants!

The performer of the vocal version has already been mentioned on the forum (here and here): Musikzug der SS-Standarte 42. The uncredited vocal group is Chor des SA-Sturms 25/10. Recorded for Lindström's Gloria label on 10 August 1933.

The awful-quality digital file that can be found online under the incorrect title "Marschlied der blauen Jungs" originates from the French SERP LP "Hitlerjugend". The same file was copied by the Swedish pirates RMK Records on their CD "Die Hitler-Jugend". The march, however, had nothing to do with the Hitlerjugend. It's a naval march, as its title (Blue Boys - Naval March) clearly indicates. (Once again, the ignorant pirates were caught copying disinformation along with the files.)

The instrumental version of the march was made by Musikkorps der III. Marine-Artillerie-Abteilung on 2 June 1933, for Telefunken.

The score was published by Fidelio-Verlag, Berlin, 1933. No other period sources containing the lyrics seem to be known.

The composer, E. A. Ludwig, is Erwin Adolf Ludwig (1901-1972).

Note: I've just noticed that YouTube, besides (yet again) incorrectly attributing the copyright of the digital file to pirates RMK Records instead of to SERP Disques, also credits a fictional composer "Heinrich Achleitner" instead of E. A. Ludwig and "German Imperial Music" as the album of origin. Great job... As if legalising pirates wasn't enough, now they're turning historical documents into complete fiction.

Cheers,
Ivan

Awful quality is probably a soft word here, once I compared the chorus of this song with the other recordings sung by SA-Sturms 25/10 and I tought the performers where totally different.

Thank you Ivan for clarifying!

Cheers!

This was the original record label of the vocal version, released in late 1933:
Gloria-GO-10857b.jpg

Now let's follow how careless people and fraudsters completely distorted the history of this piece and recording, from 1933 to today.

1933
Carl Lindström AG releases the record Gloria GO-10857 with Ludwig's "Blaue Jungs" on side B. All the provided info was correct. Title: "Blaue Jungs", Marine-Marsch. Music by E. A. Ludwig, text by John Walter. The same info can be found in Hofmeister's Monthly Report 1933. Performer: Musikzug der SS-Standarte 42 with chorus. Conductor: Obermusikmeister (his naval title) Alexander Heinz Flessburg.

1975/1976
French SERP Disques releases the triple LP "Hitlerjugend" (HF 58) with Lindström's Gloria track "Blaue Jungs" on LP 1, side A (in awful quality). Almost no info was provided, except for the title, which was for no reason changed to "Marschlied der Blauen Jungs".

1999/2000
Swedish "RMK Records" pirates release the CD "Die Hitler-Jugend" with SERP's awful digitization of Lindström's Gloria track "Blaue Jungs" as track 4. The provided info (i.e. the incorrect title) was copied from SERP.

2017
"Believe SAS" (whatever that is) provides the awful French copy of the Lindström's Gloria track "Blaue Jungs" to YouTube. The provided info is completely fictional. Title: "Marschlied der blauen jungs" (rubbish). Author/composer: Heinrich Achleitner (rubbish + the person's fictional). Album: German imperial music, Vol. 3 (rubbish). Copyright: RMK Records (rubbish).

Well done, SERP, various pirates and YouTube! The only thing left for you and the likes of you to do is to totally change the composition's title, to "Pink Elephants on Parade" or something like that.

PS: This is JUST ONE of the many historical recordings whose histories these people completely distorted.

Thank you for revealing all the details! It's just a pity that not all songs can be found lyrics (including the correct one)

Honestly, I am worried that in the future the internet will be full of much more disinformation about these songs, and I don't know how to feel about this if not sad.
