Re: Lied der Bauern (Wir sind die Männer vom Bauernstand...)
I know this is an old topic, but does anybody know the performers of this song? I think this is the common one
[Link to a pirate/propaganda channel removed by the section host after identification.]
I first heard it a while ago and from the choir I tought that the performers could be the SA-Standarte 1, Sturm 33, but recently I managed to haer their actual version and is totally different

Thank you, but what I actually mean with performers is, who is directing and the group singing and playing in this particular recording

Hello, Jerard
The recording indeed turned out to be kind of common online, but that's because it was uploaded almost two decades ago (I think it was initially shared via eMule). The original record, however, is not common at all (the track was released on two records actually), and neither are the other ones containing recordings of this song (four commercial recordings are known: Grammophon, Electrola, Gloria and Telefunken, which contains the song as part of a march).
The recording you're inquiring about was made for Grammophon on 18 January 1934 by Sing- und Spielabteilung der Reichsschule des Deutschen Arbeitsdienstes, Potsdam, under Musikdirektor Hermann Koch. What is particularly interesting about it is that the orchestra is the future band of Herms Niel's, who took it over later the same year - the band that would become known as Reichsmusikzug des Reichsarbeitsdienstes. And it is the only known commercial recording by the orchestra from its "pre-Niel" era.
By the way, the digital file that can be found online has been slowed down and misses a couple of seconds from the start (three drum beats).
The second digital file shared online was a Japanese Victor release of the Electrola version, uploaded by a Japanese collector on YouTube.
The third digital file shared online was the Telefunken march version, uploaded by JPF (whose account YouTube terminated, but kept the majority of his uploads on its platform; not this particular one though).
The Gloria version was never shared online and is the rarest of the four.
Cheers,
Ivan

Yes, the Gloria (Lindström) version is very rare. I saw the record on sale only once (about 15 years ago) and I don't know anyone who has a copy.
I wouldn't be surprised if it turns out that a fifth commercial recording was also made, for Kristall. It was one of the leading record companies at the time (1934). Unfortunately, Kristall recording lists don't exist, so the only way to know what the company produced is to locate all its records and catalogues, and write everything down. Still, the title of Hertzberg/Liß' song hasn't appeared in connection with this company yet.
By the way, these were the original credits for the Grammophon recording:
Only nine days later, the same performers played the song at the Kaiserdamm Ausstellungshallen, which was recorded for the radio: (Notice the slightly different credits; it's quite possible that the choir in the Grammophon recording wasn't a school choir but the camp choir. By the way, Reichsschule and Reichsführerschule were just name variations of the same school, located at the Neues Palais.)
Several more recordings of the song were recorded for the radio, by different performers and in the course of several years.
Cheers,
Ivan

Thank you for sharing the scan with the original credit and the info about the performers, by the way, do you know if the piano notes of this march were released on some songbook?
