Hi!

Upon reading war-time chapters of "Äänilevyn historia" (History of voice recordings, by Pekka Gronow & Ilpo Saunio / WSOY 1990) I found out a very interesting sentence:
"Suomalainen SS-pataljoonakin synnytti sekin oman ryhmänsä lyriikkaa ja säveltaidetta, jota ei kuitenkaan levytetty: Yrjö Kilpisen diskografiaa olisi voinut täydentää suomalaisten SS-miesten taistolaulu, sanat musiikkiprofessori A.O. Väisänen"
I tried to search for additional information and following result came out: http://www.dgfmm.de/Vereinszeitschrift/ ... hrifen.htm - while scrolling down, there are mentioned actually two different titles:
Suomalaisen SS-Miesten Taisto Laulu 96-221
Vapaaehtoisen SS-Pataljoonan Marssi Laulu 96-220
(Apparently they were listed by someone not fluent in Finnish spelling :))

Now I am asking if somone is familiar with these two songs and their lyrics? When were they performed and by whom? Were they associated to the choir of Finnish SS battalion, led by SS-Ustuf. Tauno Pajunen?

Hi,

My first contribution to the forum: "Suomalaisten SS-miesten taistolaulu". It was given to me by SS-Untersturmführer Simo Rautala (RIP) when I was 15 years old (but I am not a relative of him).

Edit: It was too big for scanning, so i needed to take a photocopy of it and scan it. Scharf, the ones you posted, are these in some museum or a private collection?

Hi and welcome :welcome:

Glad to see yours original :D

I do not know, are those pictures I posted in private collection or in museum. As you all can see, I just picked them from finnish awards-site.

Hi,
I found this in my scrapbooks: "Suomalaisen vapaaehtoisen SS-pataljoonan marssilaulu". It is a photocopy of an original one, which also belonged to Ustuf. Simo Rautala. It is dedicated by authors Jukka Tyrkko (letters) and Tauno Pajunen (composer) to Paavo Rautala on 1942. Who was Paavo Rautala is still unknown. Maybe he was called Simo Paavo Rautala, or was Paavo his family member.
