Hint: refrain of the song was taken from an old German song, which has the melody of an old English song.

Answer: "Weit ist der Weg zurück ins Heimatland" (Marschlied der Kameraden) from movies "Die andere Seite" (1931) and "Flüchtlinge" (1933). Refrain taken from the folk song with the same name, with the melody from British "Pack Up Your Troubles in Your Old Kit-Bag".

OK, guess another song (probably all of you have heard this one):

Wir ziehen aus in die große Schlacht,
ob mächtig auch des Feindes Macht.
Gleich unverzagt, wir greifen an
und halten zusammen Mann für Mann!

...well, if you don't guess it now, you never will

Wir ziehen aus in die große Schlacht,
ob mächtig auch des Feindes Macht.
Gleich unverzagt, wir greifen an
und halten zusammen Mann für Mann!

Soldaten, Kameraden,
Großdeutschland mit uns!

Question 33

Post by linnage » 13 Nov 2007, 18:08

What song has refrain :

Wir fahren, wir fahren,
kein Weg ist uns zu weit!
Ob tief verschlammt die Straßen,
ob sie vereist, verschneit,
Nichts kann die Fahrt uns hemmen,
Weil wir nur eines kennen:
Mit Mann und mit dem Wagen,
Die Losung klar bereit,
Mit Mann und mit dem Wagen,,
Im Einsatz jederzeit!
