Re: ID German March
Hello, von thoma
Correct, it is the HJ anthem, "Uns're Fahne flattert uns voran!" It's a 1933 "Grammophon" recording by Stabskapelle der Hitlerjugend & Gebietsspielschar Berlin, conducted by the composer, Hans-Otto Borgmann.
Cheers,
Ivan
PS

Thanks for the help Ivan
Also it sounds but in a different version in the film
"Hitlerjunge Quex", by Hans Steinhoff, or even
in "Triumph des Willens", by Leni Riefenstahl

Re:
Hello,
This is gonna be an interesting one. I'm wondering if anyone has any info on a Japanese recording of this song? I've only heard it twice, sounded legit and from the correct time period. Instead of 'Unsere Fahne flattert uns voran', the lyrics in Japanese were 'Hirameku wa ga hata yo'. I remember seeing something about this recording in Japanese somewhere years ago, but now I can't locate it at all. I believe the recording was made due to close ties to Germany. A similar Japanese version of 'Giovinezza' or 'Hitlerleute' was also made, can't seem to find that at all anymore either.
Randomly thought of that due to the quiz question I brought up.
Thanks!

Re:
Hello,
I've liked the lively Japanese version very much, but my lack of knowledge of the Japanese language prevents me from finding more info on it. I've only managed to find out that the singer was (apparently) Ryozo Okuda, 1938 (info from a YouTube channel, I wasn't able to check how accurate it is). If there's any knowledgeable Japanese (or other) record collector/researcher reading this, please feel free to join the discussion and shed some light on this interesting recording.
Cheers,
Ivan

Re:
Hello,
I am currently writing an English language book on the film HITLERJUNGE QUEX and any information about the Japanese version of the song "Unsere Fahne flattert uns voran" sung by Ryozo Okuda for Victor Compay of Japan Ltd in 1938, etc. would be most appreciated. Any catalogue #, LP details, translation of the Japanese words used instead of the original German language text, etc. Also whether any shellac/LP is ever for sale today as a used record on the Internet?
Many thanks,
William G.

Re:
That's interesting, they used two separate recordings of both the 1st stanza and refrain, but that's odd because the second one playing sounds like this recording here, I have no information of it but it's the second stanza and verse: https://archive.org/details/ThirdReichM ... m+13s).mp3
that's the same recording only the first two set of lyrics (lyrics shown in the video you posted) are missing, which makes sense now because in all incomplete recordings of Unsere Fahne flattert uns voran I've seen they leave out the second stanza (Jugend, jugend) so it makes sense that a full version of it exists, I just wonder why they've been separated and so hard to come across
I have no information about the 1st one played in the video, it could possibly be recorded specifically for the video rather than being an original recording but I actually doubt that

Re:
Surprise surprise I found it, it was recorded on May 1st 1935 at a Youth Rally in the Berlin Lustgarten starring Hitler and Goebbels
It plays at the very end of the recording
https://archive.org/details/Hitler_Spee ... 6m_46s.mp3
Among the recording can also be found a pretty unique version of the HJ fanfare used to begin events and the Badenwiller Marsch which eventually gets washed out by cheering and halted before it gets to the iconic part
As for the recording I showed in my last post, the second stanza and refrain is also not there in this recording, but that's really odd since they seem to be played from the same band and sung from the same choir just slightly different audio quality, truly strange. But I hope this satisfies your curiosity

Re: Hitlerjunge Quex: Uns're Fahne flattert uns voran!
I would like to add some information about the Japanese version of "Uns're Fahne flattert uns voran!"
Title: Nazi Youth Song [ナチス青年の歌]
Singer: Ryozo Okuda
Performance: Nippon Polydor Orchestra
Translation: Hachiro Sato
Record number: 2547
Recording date: 12.1937
Description: Commemorating the signing of the Japan-German-Italian Anti-Comintern Pact
Reference: http://78music.jp/polydor.html#%5C32%20000
(Hachiro Sato was leading Japanese lyricist who wrote "Ringo no Uta")
English lyrics:
Get up! let's go
A high-pitched trumpet
Get up! let's go
We are young peoples
High hopes resonate in my heart!
Our sparkling flag
Our bouncing hearts
Thinking about the nation and working together
Protect the flag and go forward together.
Our sparkling flag
Our bouncing hearts
We risk our lives forever
Protect the flag forever!

(I used the one from the comments section. I don't think there is anything to correct in my eyes.)
Also, this melody is currently being used in a Japanese Boy Scout song.
Lyrics reference: https://www.ichihara7.jp/bs/kunugi/201906.pdf
Song reference: https://youtu.be/wmJ_VNapBzo?si=ieMMOT8wSjeZgeHx
English lyrics:
Walk, walk, walk in rhythm, holding up our flag
Let us march onward to the hill we aim for
Though the road may be steep
We sing cheerfully and walk strongly on the path of truth
