Did the Ustase of Croatia have a party anthem?

Thanx Everyone!

Hello, Metatron

Yes, the anthem of the Ustasha movement was "Puška puca" (written by Pavelić himself).

Cheers,
Ivan

Sa pjesmom u boj

#3

Post by FRANCY RITTER » 04 Apr 2008, 09:09

Hello to all and hello my dear and old friend
Handschar's song... (set to the melody of "Bombs on England")
Sa pjesmom u boj

1. Pjesma ječi, sva se zemlja trese,
SS-vojska stupa roj u roj,
SS-vojska sveti barjak vije,
SS-vojska sve za narod svoj.

Ref.
Daj mi ruku ti, draga Ivana,
oj zbogom sad, oj zbogom sad, oj zbogom sad,
idem branit', idem branit',
idem branit' mili, rodni kraj, rodni kraj.

2. U boj smjelo, vi SS-junaci,
pokažite domovini put!
Pođ'te putem slavnih pradjedova
dok ne padne tiran klet i ljut.

3. Ljubav naša nek u srdcu plamti,
i sa pjesmom pođimo u boj.
Za slobodu mile domovine
svaki rado dat' će život svoj.

Hello, F. R.

There's an error: the melody was not taken from Norbert Schultze's "Bomben auf Engelland".
It was taken from Herms Niel's "Matrosenlied", a.k.a. "Wir fahren gegen Engelland".

Refrain comparison:

Sa pjesmom u boj

Give me your hand, dear lvana,
oh farewell now, oh farewell now, oh farewell now,
I'm off to defend, I'm off to defend,
I'm off to defend my beloved Homeland, Homeland!

Matrosenlied (Wir fahren gegen Engelland)

Give me your hand, your white hand,
farewell my dear, farewell my dear, farewell, farewell,
for we're sailing, for we're sailing,
for we're sailing against England, England!

I'd love to hear a sample of that (handschar version) but haven't been able to find any so far.

Anyone to help me out? I'm sure there are more who would like to hear bits of it.

Best regards
Croy

I seriously doubt that it was ever recorded and it's even questionable whether it was sang by the troops at all.

Cheers,
Ivan

Handschar Division Song

#9

Post by Flakor Potemkin » 25 Sep 2009, 02:55

According to the book Himmler's Bosnian Division by George Lepre, there was a Division marching song called "Sa pjesmom u boj".

Does anyone have a recording of this marching song?

Hello!

The lyrics to this song were published in the division's newspaper. However, I do not know of any recording of it.

Best regards,

George

Thanks for the information and your amazing work on the Handschar. It's definitely a great contribution to History, the foreign volunteers of the Waffen-SS and World War II.

Hello, F. P.

As was mentioned earlier, it is doubtful that the song was ever recorded and it's questionable whether the troops ever used it. It was just one of two popular Herms Niel's songs covered in Croatian language and published in the divisional magazine by the (German-led) propaganda section.

Cheers,
Ivan

WWII Croatian music recordings

#13

Post by zagreb29 » 10 Sep 2012, 06:42

Is there anyone out there who knows where to get NDH music? Just curious if I can buy some Domobran marching songs or even Ustahsa songs? I've heard "Puška puca" played in the backgraound of the WWII Croatian News Reels.

Thanks,

Mitija,

Thanks for the links. Ive heard some these songs before, I noticed the song "Domobranska" has a lot of the background music of American folk song "Clementine" .
