That photo was taken in Innsbruck after the Anschluss (1938), during Hitler's visit.

Two more photos below (notice that the first image was taken at the same spot as the previously-posted image).

Thank you for the photos! So it must be also Bunge on the last three photos during the visit of Chamberlain and Daladier? I'm just asking because it seems that there is also a photo of both prime ministers with another SS military band (I guess it was the Totenkopf-Standarte 1).

Well, it sure looks like him and he did lead the "Deutschland" regimental (and its only) band at the time; I just wish I could see what is that medal he wears at the bottom of his breast pocket, which I didn't see Bunge wear before (it looks like an SA Sports Badge). Also, notice the same Schellenbaum (and bass drum) as pictured in the first photo, when G. A. Bunge's band was still the band of the regiment's 1st battalion.

According to Fritz Bunge (Musik in der Waffen-SS, pp. 40-41), the band of SS-Sturmbann N (former band of the II./SS-Standarte "Deutschland"), under Adolf Laubmann, was lined up before Chamberlain and Daladier. Perhaps that's the other band you were referring to; can you post the photo in question? [This discussion was continued in the Unidentified SS bands topic.]

Cheers,
Ivan

Here is a picture of the Deutschland Musikzugführer in some better resolution. The decorations on the medal bar match exactly those awarded to Gustav Bunge as a musician in the Bavarian army and as listed in the various Kriegsstammrollen of the units in which he served.

Bunge Gustav_1.JPG

Prussian Iron Cross 2nd class
Bayarian Military Merit Cross 2nd class with swords (28 May 1917)
Ehrenkreuz des Weltkriegs 1914-1918 (post war)
Bavarian Prinz-Regent-Luitpold Jubilee Medal
Bavarian Long Service Decoration 1st Class (31 Jan 1916)
Austro-Hungarian Silver Merit Cross.

Glenn
