Hello,

Hans Krüger-Burghardt = Musikzugführer der Kapelle SS-Standarte 44

Joh. Krüger = Musikzugführer Musikzug der SS-Standarte 44

"Joh." = Johann or Johannes (short Hans!)

Maybe same person?

Very likely the same person! But remember there's also always a possibility that a name was simply misspelled on a label. That's a rare record, which is unknown to me (what's in it?).

Cheers,
Ivan

Kapelle der SS-Standarte 44

Post by Alexander B. » 12 Jan 2016 03:50

In my continuing mission to collect all the SS-42 Musikzug records I've seen a few times now the Grammophon-10049 pressing of Lisa/Lore, Lore with the band of the SS standarte 44 and singing by the I/2 SA? Sturmbann under the direction of MzF. Hans Krüger-Burghardt; I've found little information about either group or their director, most of the searchable sources on the net come up only with more MP3's of this particular record.

Any information on the band of the 44th Standarte in general? Did they record anything else for Grammophon or any other German record companies of the time?

All the best
Alex

Yes, SA (Reserve-Sturmbann I of SA-Standarte 2).

Their records are extremely rare, apart from the only common and widely known one (Grammophon company's Lisa / Lore). Two more are (so far) known to exist: the one that F. listed here (the two topics have been merged now), and another one from Grammophon: Frisch wie kühles Morgengrauen / Das Lied der deutschen Arbeit.

Cheers,
Ivan

Hello again Ivan,

Thanks for the information, I really need to look into buying some Patria discs, some very unexplored content on some of them! To be honest I am not so surprised to hear that they (The SS-44) failed to gain much ground, there definitely is nothing "wrong" with either performance but they're both rather bland in comparison to some other recordings of the same songs I've heard.

All the best
Alex

Wow, two records I've never heard of (I knew only the C 1399). And among them a new title by the Leibstandarte!

Great addition, F., as always.

Cheers,
Ivan

Thanks. In that catalogue (Grammophon "Braun-Etikett" incl. April 1934) are many (NS)-records, performers and details listed I've never heard before. Most of these records we will never see because they are simply too rare.
