I couldn't find anything related to it and would love to know if anyone else is familiar with it (if anyone knows the full text, origin etc.) Thanks in advance. Also I'm new to this forum, so please be patient with me if I missed already existing thread or local forums rules. Once again thank you...

Re: Ein Tiroler wollte jagen
Hello and
"Ein Tiroler wollte jagen" is a folk song that originates probably from the early XX century. The version you are particularly interested in is obviously a mountain artillery version of the song (at the end they mention an 8th battery). It begins with a traditional German hunting signal called "Aufmunterung zum Treiben". Not sure at the moment about who is the performer, but I believe that the recording comes from the album "Auf, auf zum fröhlichen Jagen" (various artists). Here are the matching lyrics:
Cheers,
Ivan

Source: Liederbüchlein des Bezirks UnterfrankenEin Tiroler wollte jagen
1. Ein Tiroler wollte jagen
einen Gemsbock, Gemsbock silbergrau.
Doch es wollt' ihm nicht gelingen,
denn das Tierlein, Tierlein war zu schlau.
Holderiaho, holderiaho,
holderia, ria, holderiaho.
Holderiaho, holderiaho,
holderia, ria, holdrio.
2. Und der Gemsenjäger wollte
zu des Försters, Försters Töchterlein,
doch sie lacht ihm ins Gesichte
und sie läßt ihn, läßt ihn nicht herein.
Holderiaho...
3. Auf der Burg wohl, auf der schönen,
da hat er zwei Jahre abgedient
bei dem schönsten Regimente,
bei der achten, achten Batterie.
Holderiaho...
Cheers,
Ivan
