Diedrich Entelmann (1886-1963)

Post by meyerhuberentelmann » 15 Oct 2017 20:00

My great great grandfather was Oberst Diedrich Entelmann, head of propaganda division VI, Gaumusikinspizient der Hauptstelle VI, trumpeter of the Oldenburg state theatre since 1927, founder of an SA-Gau chapel. His best friend was Carl Röver. Do you have any info on these people? Even records of his Nuremberg trial is scarce on the internet. He only served two years I had to find all this through Fold3. Anyone else have better places to find this kind of info?

Danke

Hello and :welcome:

From Fred K. Prieberg's Handbuch Deutsche Musiker 1933-1945, p. 1424:

For Gauleiter Carl Röver, you may use the forum (or the Google) search function.

Cheers,
Ivan

you know its funny, he had two names most definitely the same man as well. two spellings of his first name anyways. is that a reoccurring thing within these times in that area?

i thought it may have been because of Nuremberg or something i cant find much on his sentencing other than he was not allowed to work in the industry anymore denazification category 3 or something.

Yes, the same person definitely. It was very common (and it surely still is) to misspell a name as another, identically or similarly pronounced name (for example: Josef as Joseph, Reinhart as Reinhard and so on). I can't be sure about the correct spelling of your ancestor's name, you'll have to find some official document to confirm it (but bare in mind that even in such documents, the misspellings are always possible). It's best to find his birth certificate, or a document with his own signature (he surely knew the correct spelling of his own name).

Cheers,
Ivan
