Wir senden Frohsinn - wir spenden Freude

Post by Ivan Ž. » 17 Sep 2015 11:27

"Wir senden Frohsinn - wir spenden Freude" was a TV variety show that was broadcasted from the Dome Hall of the Reich Sports Field, for wounded soldiers in Berlin. The show premiered on 14 March 1941 and was initially broadcasted twice a week, under the title "Künstler spielen für Verwundete" (Artists Play for the Wounded). It was later renamed "Wir senden Frohsinn - wir spenden Freude" (We Broadcast Happiness - We Donate Joy) and broadcasted on fridays. (Source: Die Anfänge des Deutschen Fernsehens, p. 107.)

A couple of screenshots from a 1941 broadcast, showing the Musikkorps des Wachbataillons Berlin led by Guido Grosch (at first taking a break during an acrobat act and then performing Niel & Anacker's "Antje, mein blondes Kind", together with a soldiers' chorus).

Stabsmusikkorps der Waffen-SS

Post by Auceps » 25 Oct 2015 02:09

Hello everyone!

In the book "Musik in der Waffen-SS", between pages 64 and 65 there is a picture of the symphony orchestra of the Stabsmusikkorps der Waffen-SS, playing at some theater performance.

In the German documentary "Fernsehen unterm Hakenkreuz" (Spiegel TV, 2000) this performance can be seen on film (at 1:18:47 and 1:19:45).

Well spotted! :)

It is an excerpt from a TV show for wounded German soldiers (I've merged your post with the proper topic now).

Cheers,
Ivan

A few photos from an undated broadcast with Herms Niel and his band, and the Stabsmusikkorps des Wachbataillons der Luftwaffe, Berlin (which was led by Hans Teichmann; pictured in the third image in the foreground is a civilian artist called "Fips"; Teichmann's band is in the background).

Auch "Fips", ein vielen Soldaten von Wehrmachtstourneen her bekannter Artist, erfreut nun ebenso seine Zuschauer im Saal wie seine "Fernseher" in weit entlegenen Lazaretten.

Another image from the same show; Niel is seen on the far right (his band is obscured by a wall), Teichmann's band is seen behind him. The small band on the left is yet to be identified.

One of the earliest press reports on the show, showing the title "Künstler spielen für Verwundete" (also mentioned in the text is a variation of what would become the show's title: Frohsinn und Freude zu spenden, to donate happiness and joy).
