[Split from Unidentified Heer bands]

This conductor seems to be looking really familiar to me, but I've forgotten his name:

Maybe someone can identify him? :)

Thanks in advance!

A Wehrmacht band playing at the same concert. Or there are two bands there? Because I can see some musicians with Fransen (they could be from Luftwaffe according to their collar tabs) and some are not:

It's Hans-Georg Schütz: http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic. ... 1&t=211642

Hello, Auceps

Always check the comments section below the photos on the SS-KB site.

For the SS fanfare players photo, you would have found my comment: "SS-Division 'Prinz Eugen', Musikzug. October 1942, Serbia (Yugoslavia)."

For Schütz's photos, I wrote: "Soldatensender Belgrad, 1942. The conductor is the popular accordionist, bandleader and composer Hans Georg Schütz."

And thanks for posting, of course ;)

Cheers,
Ivan

In that case I would like to excuse myself. :)

Okay, I will. You're welcome, Ivan!

This is a combined Heer & SS band. The Homann folder contains photos from several different films which are unfortunately all mixed up now, so I'll need some time to check from which film those two images originate.

Hmm, are you sure that that dark collar tabs belong to SS and not to some Luftwaffe Flak unit?
Plus one more thing: the second to left clarinettist in the first line has a closed collar and his breast eagle can't be seen at all (like on his neighbour). But his collar tabs are too narrow and oblong for the Luftwaffe or SS. Couldn't he be a member of the Police?

Indeed there seem to be policemen there as well. (Good eye!)

Some more info: the date (for all five photos) is 03.10.1942 and the event is the 1st grand variety evening (großer bunter Abend) of winter season 1942/43, organised by Soldatensender Belgrad at the National Theatre.

The combined band photos show musicians from (info from a concert poster) "3 Musikkorps der Wehrmacht und der Waffen-SS unter Leitung von Stabsmusikmeister Kurtz, Musikmeister Hexmann, SS-Oberscharführer Mächler".

The "Stabsmusikmeister Kurtz" is likely Alfred Kurtz (born in 1885), but I don't know in which unit he served at the time. Mächler led the "Prinz Eugen" divisional band. No info on Hexmann.

Cheers,
Ivan
