Songs and marches of the Leibstandarte-SS "Adolf Hitler"

Post by Ivan Ž. » 27 Sep 2007 07:44

Listed below are the known marches dedicated to Hitler's SS bodyguards (the unit, subunits, commander or war campaigns).

Der Führer kommt! (by Hermann Ludwig Blankenburg) 1936 * Der Leibstandarte-SS "Adolf Hitler" gewidmet
Deutsche Panzergrenadiere (by Hermann Müller-John) * Gewidmet dem SS-Obergruppenführer und Panzergeneral der Waffen-SS Sepp Dietrich
Die Leibstandarte (by Passau) 1935
Leibstandartenmarsch (by Hermann Müller-John) 1934
Schwarze Bataillone (by G. Fister) 1937 * Dem Musikkorps der Leibstandarte-SS "Adolf Hitler" gewidmet
Sepp-Dietrich-Marsch (by Johannes Richter) 1937
Treue um Treue (by G. Fister) 1937 * Dem Musikkorps der Leibstandarte-SS "Adolf Hitler" gewidmet
Zwischen Kutno und Warschau (by Hermann Müller-John) 1940

The parade march of the unit was, naturally, "Badenweiler-Marsch" by Georg Fürst (Hitler's signature march). Note that there were several more marches dedicated to a Leibstandarte, but it's unclear to which one, SS or SA (there was also a lesser-known SA-Leibstandarte, in Munich): "Leibstandarte" by Grau (1934), "Die Leibstandarte" by Gustav Curth (1937) and "Marsch der Leibstandarte" by Willi Fenzel (1937).

The unit apparently also had a couple of songs; however, the info on them originates from postwar sources only (as far as is currently known), so it should be taken with a grain of salt (referring especially to the accuracy of their titles, which is why I've listed only their opening lines).

Ketten rasseln nun auf allen Wegen (author unknown; published after WWII as "Wenn die Leibstandarte ficht" / "Lied der Panzergrenadiere LAH")
Wir rollen stolz für Deutschlands Recht (author unknown; published after WWII as "Kampflied der Leibstandarte")

Post by Dieter33 » 19 Nov 2015 12:10

Hallo all,
who is composer of that "Leibstandartenmarsch"? Many videos on Youtube but no composer mentioned.

Thanks.

Composer is Müller-John himself.

[Split from Looking for sound files]

Who can help me to get a link, mp3 or a recording of the march "Treue um Treue" by G. Fister?

A copy of the recording (not in the best quality though) can be found on this CD viewtopic.php?f=81&t=120685#p1058247

As was already mentioned, this march was dedicated to (and also recorded by) the LSSAH band.

Needless to say that Fister's piece shouldn't be confused with the (better known) march of the same composed by Carl Teike, which, incidentally, was also recorded by the LSSAH band (three times, for Grammophon, Gloria and Kristall labels).

Cheers,
Ivan

Der Führer kommt!

An article on Blankenburg's 60th birthday mentioning the Leibstandarte band recently premiering his march "Der Führer kommt" (dedicated to the Leibstandarte).
