[Two threads dealing with "Hitler's SS: Portrait in Evil" soundtrack have been merged by the music section host, Ivan Ž.]

i missed the credits to the movie cause it would have ended at 6 Am. theres a song half way through the movie that the Leibstandarte are singing on the way to the meeting place. id like to know if its a real song and what its called and where i can find it if possible :) thx

The song is "Wenn die Soldaten" which I believe dates to the mid-19th Century.

Here's a link:

The song sequence is certainly one of the hi-lites of the film.

Movie: SS- Portrait of Evil

This is a long shot, but I have racked my brains trying to figure out a song in this movie. It's the song the SS men are singing on the way to arrest the SA leadership; it's played in the background as well as scenes aboard the train as the SS men are singing.

ANY help would very much appreciated- either reply here, or if you like you can contact me directly at [email protected]

THANK YOU!!

Karlrohm I watched this just last week, got it in a DVD boxset of otherwise terrible WW2 movies for $6.00! In any case that song is definitely "Wenn die Soldaten durch die Stadt marschieren", here are the lyrics:

I am loathe to admit, but I *think* my version of SS-POE is from the very set you have- does it have such WONDERFUL titles as 'Commando', 'Eagles Strike at Dawn' and other Oscar-winning masterpieces? hahahaha

In any case I very much appreciate your assistance- you seem to be really on the ball with your song recognition! I tried my best to figure out wha they were singing (my DVD is not hte best in the world!) but my language skills failed me utterly this time.

Now, for another question- do you know of any web location right offhand I might download this from? Again, I appreciate any help you might be able to give.

Thanks again!

Karl,
Here is one version I've heard and the only one I could find on the net: http://zc.com.ru/music/third-reich/Germ ... n%20-t.mp3
The page is here if that won't work: http://zc.com.ru/music/third-reich/
If I can find another version I'll send you a pm, I have heard a Marlene Dietrich one as well.
