Hi-
I just acquired this silver BBb tuba:

http://i700.photobucket.com/albums/ww10 ... 2bkd7.jpeg
http://i700.photobucket.com/albums/ww10 ... flbpg.jpeg
It is from the Musikkorps der Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler. '44' on the bell garland/kranz, and also is the maker/distributor 'Wunderlich.' I am a tuba player/collector, and I did free up all the slides and valves ( except the 2nd slide), cleaned the valves, and it plays quite nice. I am having my repairman free the second slide, align rotors, and do some dent work. I did polish the instrument up some, and am looking to do research on the MK LSSAH. Would love to acquire a band program of the MK LSSAH.

Re:
Hi-
A question for everyone. Is the 'Musikkorps der Leibstandarte-SS Adolf Hitler' the same band as the 'Musikkorps der SS-Panzergrenadier-Division Leibstandarte-SS Adolf Hitler?' I just saw a program with the 'Musikkorps der SS-Panzergrenadier-Division Leibstandarte-SS Adolf Hitler' that lists Hermann Müller-John as conductor. Knowing, that for the most past, Müller-John was the MK LSSAH conductor, is the MK LSSAH the same as the MK Panzergrenadier-Division LSSAH? Or was the MK Panzergrenadier-Division LSSAH a different band?
Thank you for any help you can provide!

Hello, Mark
First of all, it is "Panzer" [Armour, Armoured], not "Panther" I've corrected the spelling in your post now. Yes, it is the same band. Leibstandarte, as other units, changed over the years.

Hi-
Here is the program booklet I just acquired this evening. It is 8 pages, and measures 3 3/4" by 5 1/2" ( 9 by 14 cm).

Will go nicely with the tuba for display.

P.S. Tuba is at my instrument repairman for dent removal, valve alignment, etc. Will shortly be ready for playing demonstrations.

A nice picture of two members of the Musikkorps. Except when I look the kid, it makes me to remember "chuqui" from the movie Child´s play.

I finally got ahold of the owner of the above trumpet. His dad was in WWII and brought it back with him. Here is the story...
Here is some more info you can have concerning my trumpet.
My father was a combat engineer in the 42nd Rainbow Division during WWII. The battalion was divided in half in Austria. One group was up stream building a fake bridge for troops to cross and making the German troops think that was the place for the main confrontation. Meanwhile, the other group of which my dad was in, was secretly building a pontoon bridge for the heavy equipment to cross and attack the Germans from behind.
They were almost finished when the Musikkorps approached a shed where their instruments were stored. Conflict began and lasted for almost 3 days. Many of the corps members were killed and others ran from the area. After the bridge was completed, my dad and fellow engineers found instruments scattered on the ground with the dead troops. Being my dad was a musician, he picked up some of the instruments and gave them to his buddies. He kept the trumpet and sent it home (St. Louis, Mo. USA).
