Hi-
While researching the MK LSSAH, I have located a few other musical instruments ( besides my tuba) that are known to exist (in other collections) from the band:

Above: rotary valve trumpet from the band

Image
Above: Glockenspiel/Xylophone from the band

Image
Above: Trombone from the band

Above: French Horn from the band

Hopefully, more will turn up...

Hi-
I finally got ahold of the owner of the above trumpet. His dad was in WWII and brought it back with him. Here is the story...

'Here is some more info you can have concerning my trumpet.

My father was a combat engineer in the 42nd Rainbow Division during WWII.
The battalion was divided in half in Austria. One group was up stream building a fake bridge for troops to cross and making the German troops think that was the place for the main confrontation. Meanwhile, the other group of which my dad was in, was secretly building a pontoon bridge for the heavy equipment to cross and attack the Germans from behind.

They were almost finished when the Musikkorps approached a shed where their instruments were stored. Conflict began and lasted for almost 3 days. Many of the corps members were killed and others ran from the area. After the bridge was completed, my dad and fellow engineers found instruments scattered on the ground with the dead troops. Being my dad was a musician, he picked up some of the instruments and gave them to his buddies. He kept the trumpet and sent it home (St. Louis, Mo. USA).'

Hi-
I will ask him. He is 76 now and in bad health. He might be putting the trumpet up for sale too...
