Heraus (Herbei) zum Kampf

#1

Post by oldiesman100 » 08 May 2005, 20:29

"Heraus zum Kampf, ihr Knechte der Maschinen" - I have this song on a record, and I recognized the words when I did a search on the net. The result below was some text from what appears to be a work of fiction. I have never been able to determine the actual name of this song or anything else about it. I contacted the author and he doesn't know, either. Can anyone help me? Thanks.

[Incorrect and indeed partially fictional lyrics removed & topic title corrected by the host, Ivan Ž.]

The title is "Heraus zum Kampf" and it is an SA song based on a Soviet melody. The version you have is surely the one from the "Telefunken" recording of the "Deutscher Kampf im Lied" medley.

Cheers,
Ivan

Yes, this song is found in the potpourri that you have listed. The potpourri that I have was on a record entitled "Hitler's Inferno" and is actually a little different from the one that you have listed in that it does not include "Wenn alle untreu werden". The rest of the songs are the same and in the same order. I bought that record in 1968 and I have been trying to get the words to the songs ever since then. I found a few of them from songbooks that I had bought over the years, but it was only with the advent of the internet as a source of this type of music within the last few years that I was able to obtain the words to the last few songs. Your response if similarly appreciated.

Thank you for taking the time to help me with my problem.

I know that at least 4 full versions of this song were recorded:

- Kapelle der SA-Gruppe Berlin-Brandenburg, cond. J. Fuhsel (NSSI), instrumental, with "Heil Hitler!" shouts
- Kapelle der SA-Standarte II, cond. R. Mentzel (Crystalate), with singing
- Kapelle des S. Sturmbanns 12, cond. M. Ewers (Crystalate), with singing
- Musikzug der SA-Standarte 9, cond. R. Brühl (Lindström), with singing
- Musikzug der SA-Standarte 9, cond. R. Brühl (Lindström), instrumental
- Deutsches Blasorchester, cond. A. Engel (Grammophon), with singing

I don't know if there are any other full recordings of this song, maybe Ivan know something else

[Two more versions and some additional info added by the host, I. Ž.]

Hello, Jerard

Regarding the note that I added to your post (in red) - whenever they reached the part where "und jeder SA-Mann ruft mutig 'Heil Hitler'" would be sung, the bandsmen shouted "Heil Hitler!" They played it like that three times, without any other words. An unusual performance!

Cheers,
Ivan

Hello Ivan,

Thank you for the info, really unusual recording indeed,
and thank you very much for the other two recordings aswell, didn't know about these two versions.
