Das Boot (1981) soundtrack

Post by Eden Zhang » 09 Jun 2004 13:00

[Several threads dealing with "Das Boot" soundtrack have been merged by the music section host, Ivan Ž.]

Hi there.

I watched the DVD of Das Boot the other day and am now wondering what the name of a certain song is.

Its the song heard briefly on the radio, before the captain orders the radioman to turn it off. This was near the beginning of the movie. If I remember correctly, the captain gets the radioman to put on an English song straight after.

Anyway, I'm sorry I can't give a more detailed description, the DVD is my friends and he took it back. I'll go get it off him again, and post more details.

Thanks.

I have the sound track to das boot and unfortunately that song is not included :( which is sad because it was quite a good moment in the film.

Hi there.

Thanks for all your help, however I must've worded my question poorly (it was late). :)

I was actually asking for the song that was played right BEFORE "It's a long way to Tipperary", the brief orchastra classic style song that was heard.

It sounded like a newsreel, probably Die Deutsche Wochenschau. I'll check it out later.

I just watched it and I cannot identify the first song.

BTW, my favorite piece of music in the movie is that beautiful sad melody sung by the female vocalist. It is sung twice during the movie. Must be a love song of some sort. Does anyone know the name of it? It almost sounds French. Beautiful what it is.

My copy of the movie (recorded off of HBO) does not list ANY music credits at the end.
