Nope, I didn't. :) Well, this word sounds most certain among another variants, but I don't except another options as well. Thanks for the reminding, Ivan!

And here is an article from a local newspaper after the concert.
One piece was performed I've never heard of - Parademarsch der Arbeitsdienst-Schulen.

Great material, Greg, thank you very much for posting! First time I see it.

Parademarsch der Arbeitsdienst-Schulen is (as it's written in the report):
Ivan Ž. wrote:LIST OF WORKS

1937

RAD-Marsch Nr. 1 (Der Reichsarbeitsführer)
Composer: Herms Niel
Publisher: Musikverlag Sanssouci [Wilke & Co.], Berlin-Wilmersdorf
...which Niel recorded as well, during his first Grammophon session with the RAD band, in 1937.

What I find most interesting is that they credited Niel as author of the 1940 fanfare for the 1814 "Pariser Einzugsmarsch", but I think that was just a reporter's mistake (I still do not know who the fanfare-composer is, but I doubt it's Niel).

Cheers,
Ivan

Balkanlied

Post by Ivan Ž. » 13 Mar 2016 15:05

I keep forgetting to post this: if anyone has the scan of Niel's "Balkanlied", Grammophon (or Polydor) E 11587, please send me a PM.

Thanks very much in advance,
Ivan

More on the newsreel attached by Fallersleben on 10/11 Oct 2015.

As indicated in the newsreel, footage was taken during Reichsarbeitsführer Konstantin Hierl visit to Prag.
According to official timetable/program, visit lasted from 22nd to 25th of January 1941.

Review of RAD troops took place on 23.01 (Thursday) at noon.
"12,05 Uhr - Abschreiten der beiden von dem Czernin-Palais angetretenen Ehrenabteilungen durch den Herrn Reichsprotektor und den Herrn Reichsarbeitsführer."

Niel's concert started at 8pm on 24.01 (Friday).
"20,00 Uhr - Beginn des Konzertes zu Gunsten des Kriegswinterhilfswerkes. Es spielt des Reichsmusikzug des R.A.D. Leitung: OMZ-Führer Herms Niel."

Invitation to the concert. Much more expensive entry than for one in Posen, in two months' time!

And here is one more photo.

A self-built Niel postcard. Photo was glued onto a standard postcard but with his signature it's a special item... (http://www.ebay.de/itm/RRR-Kapellmeiste ... 1989755648)
