Re:
Hello, Egor, and -
Thank you very much for sharing this interesting article on young Siegfried Schmidt and Niel's impressions of his work!
Very nice, thanks for posting.
This brings back memories I visited the Monbijou park actually, precisely because of this waltz. Those were fine times...!
Cheers,
Ivan
Re: Monbijou
Hahah, you're welcome, Ivan! Enjoy your memories.

Re: Es lebe der Seemannsbart
Thank you, Greg! The lyrics had also variations, for instance, guys in Ahlers' recording were singing "Mein kleines Mädel, fürcht' dich nicht vor meinem rauen Angesicht und vor dem rauen Bart...". It could be possible that the beard was "grau", but I doubt that the sailors were too long at the sea, so that they became that old for their families.
In Sanssouci, dort wo die alte Mühle steht
One of the earliest known Niel's works, co-composed with his older (and at the time more popular) colleague, Hans Ailbout.
Hans Ailbout and the performers of the recordings below - singers Gerhard Pechner and Robert Koppel, and bandleaders Marek Weber and Paul Godwin - would all become unwanted in Germany a couple of years later, during the Nazi rule, due to their Jewish ancestry.
The uncredited performers here are Robert Koppel (vocals) and Carl Woitschach (conductor).

Grüß’ mir mein Sanssouci

In Sanssouci, am Mühlenberg
...another, this time better known, song (and an extremely rare 1937 recording by Niel's band):
Another (Niel's own) recording of the same song (this time from 1939):
