Help Identifying breast clasp

#1

Post by Entschuldigung » 21 Jul 2018, 12:41

Hallo,

A friend of mine sent me a random photo of what appears to be a circa 1940 soldat with Iron Cross 2nd class ribbon, standard Hoheitszeichenor breast insignia on right.

https://i.redd.it/tggvxax1dda11.jpg

Now what eludes me despite my best efforts is what exactly is the clasp or badge of which only the top half can be seen at the bottom of the mans left breast pocket?

Any help would be much appreciated.

SA Sports Badge I believe.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SA_Sports_Badge
And the ribbon is Kriegsverdienstkreuz II. klasse mit schwertern, not EK II.

No EK2 there: The ribbons in the buttonhole are actually the Kriegsverdienstkreuz II. Klasse (War Merit Cross 2nd Class) and the Ostmedaille (Eastern Campaign Medal). (The latter also means that the photograph could not have been taken earlier than 1942.)

The pinback badge is the SA-Wehrabzeichen in Bronze (SA Military Sports Badge in Bronze).
