Heya forum!
I was wondering. How did the procedure and everything work when a soldier was awarded the Knights Cross of the Iron Cross? Take for example a Luftwaffe fighter pilot at the front. Would he recieve leave and return to Germany to be awarded the medal by Hitler? How would the procedure go and how would the recipient experience this?
Thanks in advance

Most awarded were given in the field ...at least from mid war onward.toward the end. Here on AHF there are many threads about your questions, and several dedicated actual web sites all about protocols of ther awarding of KC and aftermath events.https://www.bing.com/images/search?q=kn ... BasicHover

Even our CMOH during the war was awarded in the field, if it was awraded during the actual war, and not afterward
