I could not get a good daylight shot for the snow. The metal may look like gold but is silver.

Hello there,

Not even close to these known originals:

http://www.wehrmacht-awards.com/forums/ ... p?t=224168

I can buy yours here:

http://www.wwmeinc.com/mm5/merchant.mvc ... 10-003-110
(even has the same flaw on the obverse right and a simple pin-back reverse as stated in the description and I'm willing to bet they serial numbers are identical)

Bill is quite correct, regrettably.....but this one is not even close......your guy who knew a guy story is typical B.S. story, meant to deceive...... I'd certianly confront the guy I got it from......what good it will do probably depends.......but someone down the chain was lying through his teeth! (These aren't that old as reproductions go, I mean....maybe 5to8 years....what's your time-table with this?)

Anyway, a shame (Originals very rare....$$$$$$$$$$$ Big bucks) but this has happened to us all, especially when we step out of our "comfort zone" or let the thought of "big bucks" get the better of us.....stick with what you know! Learn before you leap! (Not meant at you, in particular.....just preaching to the faithful.....if you know what I mean!)
Hope you can get some satisfaction.....

Thank You guys very much for the help. I will just put it in the old cigar box and let it be. As far as the price , no biggie.
However this one is silver and I forgot to relate the wreath around the medal and the eagle and small wreath are washed with gold. Sure is a mystery?
Kindest Regards
Danny

And a real one for comparison. Few differences are obvious.

Probably the most enigmatic of all Gau pieces construction wise (Maybe with the exception of the first pattern Wartheland badges).
