Re: Unidentified Medals, Decorations, Badges in wear
Hello, I'll take a stab at this. This is a well known photo of a NCO in the LVF on parade IIRC in Paris. He is of course a WWI French Army vet. Here's my take on his awards:
Top Row:
Médaille militaire
Croix de guerre 1914–1918
Croix de Guerre Legionnaire
Combatant's Cross
Second Row:
Volunteer Combatant's Cross (?)
Order of the Star of Anjouan (?) or some other French Colonial Order
WWI Victory Medal (France)
WWI Commemorative War Medal (France)
Medal to the left of the Colonial Order may be the French Colonial Service Medal. He does after all have a Colonial Order
The medal ribbon in the button hole is the German Winter Battle in the East 1941–42 Medal
I hope this helps with some of his awards, kind of hard to tell from the photo.
Perhaps some one else will have some better info.
Best,
Greg

Worn under the Knight's Cross is the Hungarian Order of Merit [Magyar Érdemrend] and under that the Order of the Crown of Italy [Ordine della Corona d’Italia], both in the Commander's grade.

Many similarities with a Württemberg Cross of Honour with Swords.

Re: Unidentified Medals, Decorations, Badges in wear
Similiar, yes; but that's not what he is wearing. Take a close look at the center medaillon: The dark color is obvious and even the rampant lion is discernible.
( Also, Angern's award of the Bulgarian decoration is on record: https://www.oocities.org/~orion47/WEHRM ... NTHER.html
