Mit Hitler in Coburg

Post by Erich S » 02 Feb 2011 19:26

One of my passions is the Coburg Badge. Awarded only about 436 times making it one of the most rare and equal to the Blood Order in status. I hope you enjoy the pics!
1) 1st type Coburg Badge
2) Coburg Poster ( only one known to exist)
3) 15 yr anniversary plate ( only one known to exist)
4) Kampf um Coburg book
5) 15 yr porcelain badge

Thanks, finding anything related to the "Battle of Coburg" is VERY hard to find and I feel lucky being the care taker of these items. Best, Erich

Hi Mark, the 1st type badge was the actual award to the participants of the Battle in 1932. In 1936 after the badge was given official honor status, additional badges were made as possible replacements due to the fragile pin configuration on the earlier badge or as extras for the recipients to purchase.

Here's the sketch of the badge designed by Hitler from the book Kampf um Coburg.

Thanks for this, and your PM understated it! Have you posted up the Coburg plate before, or maybe somewhere else? I'm wondering because either I've seen it elsewhere, or before you bought it, or another one. I suspect the other two, its so rare I hardly dare think its another :D
The poster is also very striking, and you must be thrilled with it.
Your mini Wartheland sounds fab too. These awards and the history, to me, make more interesting reading than the RK.

Hi Matt, yes I posted the plate on another forum which is probably where you saw it. Coburg was the make or break point for the young Party. If they failed against the Marxists, they would have been no more than an after thought.

Here's one more badge that I have in my collection. It's interesting to note that this badge was issued in the same year as the Coburg Badge.

Hello Erich,

Thanks for posting the photos as I never get tired of seeing them. I really like the latest badge you posted as I have not seen that one before.

Best Regards,

James
