Re: Mit Hitler in Coburg
Thanks James, IMO, this badge was probably awarded by the city of Coburg to the Marches percipient 's
before the awarding of the actual award.
before the awarding of the actual award.

Thanks for the photo of Coburg. It's interesting to note that he was not on the original list of recipients for the badge. Both his Coburg badge and Blood Order are 2nd patterns.

Thank you Marcus, as a history buff, I don't think a lot of collectors realize the importance of the "Battle Of Coburg". If the Marxists would have one that day the NSDAP would probably have just become an after thought in the trash heap of history.

Re: Mit Hitler in Coburg
I forgot to ask, but was the event advertised in the poster something that happened every year, commemorating the Coburg event?
Was there an initial issue of Coburg badges, and then a 2nd issue when people who realised they'd been forgotten put forward their applications?
thanks!
Matt

Re: Mit Hitler in Coburg
Further to this thread, and some excellent reading elsewhere, here is a magnified photo showing Max Amann wearing his Coburg Badge, as seen in a well known LIFE mag photo which was too big to upload on its own. In the photo concerned he seems overshadowed by Ley and his wife! I was sure I had seen him wearing it in a photo, but couldn't find it anywhere in photos of him on his own, for some reason. I can't understand why he didn't wear it more. There is a photo of him stood behind his desk where he may be wearing it, but as he stands slightly to the left when the photo is taken it is very hard to tell and his Blood Order is much more prominent.

Hi Matt, the poster was for a Kreistag in 41 but as far as being every year, I don't know. This poster is the only one that I have seen regarding a Coburg celebration.Matt Gibbs wrote:I forgot to ask, but was the event advertised in the poster something that happened every year, commemorating the Coburg event?

The 2nd type badges were probably for honorary awards, extras for recipients or for those who possibly lost their originals due the fragile pin on the 1st type badges.
Also, thank you for posting a photo of Amann wearing his badge. Here is a photo of Sister Pia wearing her Coburg Badge, which is the 1st that I have seen.

Re: Mit Hitler in Coburg
Thanks Erich, that is a particularly good photograph, and as you say, the only one I have seen with her wearing it. Its almost a shame that she didn't appear to realise the necessity of continuing to pay dues, to qualify her not only for the Blood Order and Coburg badge, but the Golden Party Badge as well! I suppose as a woman, and a nursing sister, and from those early days of struggle, she was sort of famous amongst all those men, and probably got a small amount of "star" attention.
I agree with many of the comments on the Coburg badge that it really must be a bit of a neglected award, except in the small circle of people who know about these things, just how important it was rated.
Personally I'd rather own one than a Blood Order, that's just me. I'm afraid that my family doesn't view it quite the same way, so I'll have to keep waiting a while longer!
[Unfortunately my non-collecting family and friends just view these things as so much cash, anyone with enough can own one. They don't see the history, wheras they can "see" the history and value in a painting, for example
]
Anyone got more Coburg badge in wear photos?

Here's a Blood Order that I have that was awarded to Franz Fuchs who was with SA Munich and also a holder of the Coburg Badge.

Re: Mit Hitler in Coburg
I love that photo of Hitlerjugend leader Emil Klein. He has a lovely "trio" collection of CB, BO and GPB plus the 'bonus' of the Gold HJ Honour Badge! I think he even has the wide arm triangle honour stripe at the base of his district triangle to show his long service in his HJ unit? Really lovely! He must have been pretty young at Coburg?

I had read that there was a group of Jungstrum Hitler that took part @ Coburg.
