My heritage items from an uboat commander
My heritage items from an uboat commander
As my first post I'll show you the mainly badge heritage from an Oblt. z. S. and later uboat commander .
He was on different boats , mainly on U 103 / Obstrm. in the first war years, later , to the end of the war , he got himself the command of an E-type uboat XXIII class . This boat was sunk in Jan. 1946 , by Operation Deadlight; he went to POW, after that - from 1950 - 1956 - he and other war mates were working by the 6931 Labor Service .
In 1959 he died in an age of only 44 .
In this heritage from him ( I received in start of the 90th directly from the family ) there are a few rare items beside and a little paperwork , also with orig Signatures fom F. Ruge - Viz.- Admiral - KC winner; Major Wilhelm Wagner KC and DKIG winner ... sad that are no more docs from him ...this was all I could get )
( single pics of the items I may set, if someone want )

Re: My heritage items from an uboat commander
Tom32,
Would you post good photos of the three U-Boat badges.....front & back..... these appear to be "bronze, silver, Gold" which "doesn't ring true" (these may be later additions)... but need to see much better pictures of these. The U-Boat clasp appears to be a nice bronze original.... and everything else appears to be "what it's supposed to be.... including the 57 U-boat Badge miniture".
Wonderful grouping regardless.... you are a lucky guy.

Re: My heritage items from an uboat commander
I only present something when i'm sure that are orig items. The colour of the bagdes looked different during different angles when photographing.
Here are shown: left to the right
a Juncker
a S & L
and a very rare Otto Schickle - but in the hollow version.
Here is the simplest way to look ( if its allowed to set links inside here ) : http://www.wehrmacht-awards.com/forums/ ... p?t=773760.
There you'll see all items very large and with comments.
( the first pics are bad , after that it becomes better ones .)
Yesterday I started to set a few pics more here inside but the ones are to big s I had to minimize at first.
So your answer was to quick.
Regards

The Juncker with the "missing flag"
and the Steinhauer & Lueck
in orig. the colour is more as zinc/grey .. not so shiny silver as seen on the first pic with all items together!
The only post-war piece is the mini uboat warbadge sticker ; its a 57er vers. from Fahnen Fleck/ Hamburg
The EK II = (93) R. Simm & Söhne , Gablonz - with short ribbon
The EK I = B.H. Mayer ( the unmarked vers. !! )
The buttons are all marked ( 1935, 1939,1940 and also some diff. manufacturers)

Re: My heritage items from an uboat commander
Now it's time, I also owned this items for over 20years now- the complete Nachlass ( in the next time ) will go into the " For Sale & Wanted" thread . Should be too sad to sell all items with history behind as single ones .
So if anyone is interested, please feel free to ask for any other infos.

Re: My heritage items from an uboat commander
Little Update to one of the last commanders of the " new " U-Boat class XXIII - U 2351
- in 1945 he went as POW to Featherstone Park Camp, Camp 18 , here he was released in 1950
- after returning to Germany he served from 18.08.1950 - 04.04.1956 in the 6931 Labor Service Center / US Army
- from 1956 and up to 03.1959 , at least he served in the Bundesmarine as a Kapitänleutnant and Standortkommandeur in Bremerhaven. ( - possible they promoted him posthum because by his new clothes I found only the new the shoulder straps for an Oblt. )
He died ( after a long illness ) at the 27.03.1959 in Bremerhaven
( the last dates I got out of his death notice , out of the orig newspaper from 03-1959; so with only 43 years .
it's sad, only 2 death notices from him - one from the family and one from the Bundesmarine wehrbereich II/ Siewert ).
I'll put some images inside , so his case can be close.
How I wrote at the start of this thread, I owned his heritage out of the 90th , and over the years I " forgot" this suitcase after storing it in an separate room.
the already shown things from his heritage are sold long ago ...but yesterday I " found" the rest of his things in his old military suitcase out of the time , in this were also the newspaper(s),
his Unterschnallgürtel for the dagger holder
his pokal from the G.F.E Lehrgang
his 3 different large Rucksäcke , out of the war time and POW time , because 2 are "big" stamped , one with his full name and POW number : B 138711 from Featherstone Park Camp
his Colani heavy stuff marine greatcoat - but dated 1956 ( the first pattern postwar )
his 2 new white Jackets / new , dated 1959
his white trousers / new, dated 1959
these last two items he must be had ordered before his death - for his job in the Bundesmarine.
( pictures are coming tomorrow )
So the story of an U-Boat man ended , who survided the complete war time ( on different and also well known boats )

Re: My heritage items from an uboat commander
Little correction:
his Colani heavy stuff marine greatcoat - but dated 1956 ( the first pattern postwar )
his 2 new white Jackets / 1 new , 1 seems as short used dated 1959 ---> 1956
his white trousers / new, dated 1959---> 1956
the pokal is to see in the u-Boat thread " G.F.E. Lehrgang "
