Which award?
Has anyone an idea which award this guy is wearing under the EKI (1914)? The pic was taken in 1938 or 1939 - before WWII.

It seems a Danzig Cross.

Re: Which award?
Thanks for your reply. The problem is - the Danzig cross was instituted on 31 august 1939. This guy already recieved the EKI (1939) in september 1939, but he doesnt wear it - so I am quite sure this pic was taken before the beginning of WWII.

Please help to clear up my confusion.luckystrike78 wrote: This guy already recieved the EKI (1939) in september 1939, but he doesnt wear it - .
How can you tell which EK he is wearing or not wearing ? - they are both very indistinct.
I have no knowledge of the protocols regarding the wearing of medals , but
is it possible he is wearing EK1 [1914?] AND EK1 [1939] ?
OR
EK1 [1939] AND EK2 [1939]
You say that he doesn't wear his EK1 [1939] - why do you say this?
Cheers

Re: Which award?
When a WWI veteran recied the EKI a second time in WWII he got a so called "Wiederholungsspange":

Re: Which award?
I found this photo. It was taken 25.10.1938. It seems the guy is wearing the same cross as above. Any idea now?

Re: Which award?
War Merit Cross First Class ???? the above seems a little different though - more like a Maltese Cross

Re: Which award?
Looks like one of those KVK crosses from Germany's historical regions, there are several on that list, perhaps Mecklenburg Schwerin?

Re: Which award?
One can exclude all awards that were introduced after 1939. The second pic was for sure taken during a ceremony on 25.10.1938.Max wrote:War Merit Cross First Class ???? the above seems a little different though - more like a Maltese Cross

But it's not on the list you provided. Or the list does not matter?maybe this one?
I still think it's one of KVK crosses.
