Knight's Cross

#1

Post by SteveMinor » 29 May 2018, 21:16

Hi,

I would appreciate any opinions about this KC. I do not have any illusions so my feelings will not be hurt. I only know that it came from a local estate sale and I saw the other items it was with, a small group of common tinnies and US gear. It is old but I hve little knowledge of TR items. Thanks.

Rough, weird that the ribbon is in mint condition as compared to the award itself.Understand what I am saying?

It was on the medal and neatly folded in the case. I took it off to photo. I think it does have some wear.

The quality of the photographs of the Knight's Cross itself are very poor.... but I believe the rough core and what appears to be a defect in the detail of the silver edging on the reverse .... would lead me to say it's not original. The Oak leaves with swords and Diamonds are also not original.... without question.

Better photos of the Knight's Cross and any markings and the edging might help.... but don't get you're hopes up.

Sorry ;

It's a fake KC and a fake Eichenlaub mit Schwertern und Brillanten brooch.

There have been reproductions since just after the war..... That means nothing.

How much is an authentic Knight’s Cross in US dollars? I know it’s unlikely to find a real one for sale , but if/when they do I wonder their price.

Actually quite easy to find for sale..... Depending on many factors price can range from $6,000.00 to $25,000.00 plus or minus.... Beware of fakes even at these prices, of course. Prices are for the basic Cross, no oak leaves or oak leaves and swords or diamonds..... Some identified diamonds have sold for well over $100,000.00.
