German Gold Cross was assigned to officer and NCOs, but is there an example of a Unteroffizier that had this important medal?

Lots of Uffz won the DKiG - Martin Neher, Wilhelm Bachor and Josef Eberle to list just three of many.

Walter Jäger was awarded the DKiG twice as an Obergefreiter ( https://www.axishistory.com/list-all-ca ... ble-awards ). And others of that rank won the DKiG. Hans Gruber won it as a Gefreiter in 1945, as did Franz Schnitt. Ernst Schumann won it as a Gefreiter in 1942.

Gentlemen,

It was known that German snipers of low rank who scored over 100 sniper kills were nominated for the German Cross in Gold. Only a few DKiGs were awarded to the German snipers.
