Iron cross. That's clear. What could the inscription on the back mean? Lieutenant Ahlborn? What kind of numbers? Any idea? Thank you!

Could be a Feldpost Number with the 'A' indicating he was in the Stab, although such inscriptions on the reverse of EK's are heavily faked -

(Mobilmachung-1.1.1940) Stab III Artillerie-Regiment 23
(28.4.1940-14.9.1940) Stab III u. 7.-9. Batterie Artillerie-Regiment 23

Thank you very much for the information! This cross and the inscription on it are authentic. I got it from a veteran who took the cross off a dead German during the war. The fate of Lieutenant Ahlborn is very interesting.
