Hi there, I just bought this Badge in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, the shop owner did not have any clue about it's origin and it's missing a part looking like a shield or coat of arms at the top.
Does anyone know anything about it?
The Badge has only Laurel leaves (No oak leaves) so I do not think it has german origins, but the badges of the Royal Bulgarian Army that I have found online tend to have also Oak Leaves and it does not look to be from the communist era.
Also the Letters are not very clear, I think there is a W L V and J but the W has 2 strange thinks like guitar pegs.
About the crossed "battons" I also have no clue, I suspect they may be some wind instruments?
The insignia itself it's not magnetic, except for the pin, and there are no maker marks on the back.
My personal theory is that it belongs to a Military (or civilian) Music Band.

Just the Bulgarian alphabet is a variation of a Cyrillic - but there are Roman letters on the badge.but the badges of the Royal Bulgarian Army that I have found online tend to have also Oak Leaves and it does not look to be from the communist era

Yes, I also noticed that, so I tried to search in surrounding countries like Romania,Yugoslavia... but to no avail.....
Maybe this is from west europe... UK, Belgium, etc... I have reviewed several reference books but found nothing.....

Re: Unidentified Badge
Those are fire hose nozzles.
What you have here is a post-war Feuerwehr-Leistungabzeichen [Fire Brigade Proficiency Badge] from Upper Austria. The missing part is the state shield:
