Hi forum,
was it in WWII a gag or something like that. I mean it could happen this way: Goering asked a jeweller: I want a GK, make it! ..or what?
For what was Goering awarded with the GK? Was he also awarded with the Ritterkreuz?
Why didn´t Goering asked for the Eisernes Kreuz mit goldenen Strahlen?
Curious questions i know.

Regards, JavierAdolf Hitler also reinstated the Grand Cross of the Iron Cross on September 1st, 1939. However this award was only given once in World War Two. The lucky recipient was Reichsmarschall Hermann Goering. Goering was given this high award for his successful command of the Luftwaffe during the campaigns in France and the Low Countries in 1940.

Hello to all ; a little complement..................................................
Regulation on the renewal of the Iron Cross.
Published in the Reichsgesetzblatt of 2 September 1939 No. 159 page 1573:
article 1
The Iron Cross is awarded in the following order:
Iron Cross 2nd Class (Eisernes Kreuz 2. Klasse),
Iron Cross 1st Class, (Eisernes Kreuz 1. Klasse),
Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross, (Ritterkreuz des Eisernen Kreuzes),
Great Cross of the Iron Cross (Großkreuz des Eisernen Kreuzes)
Article 3
I reserve the award of the Great Cross (Großkreuz des Eisernen Kreuzes) for outstanding achievements, which decisively influence the course of the war.
Article 4
(1)...............
(2) ..............
(3)...............
(4) The Great Cross is about twice the size of the of the Iron Cross First Class and has a golden border instead of a silver one and is carried at the neck on a black-white-red band.
The Großkreuz des Eisernen Kreuzes (1939) given once to Hermann Göring on July 19, 1940.
So regarding Article 3, the achievement of Göring during the Western Campaign was decisive according to the Führer point of view..................
