Re: Mr. William c. Stump
Mark Felton is planning a new video on this guy and his awards including the Ribbentrop collection. Its coming soon...
Re: Mr. William c. Stump
Mr. Stump was a militaria collector, right?
I remember his "Ribbentrop" stuff, is all this still an issue ?
Why not just let the man just rest in peace ?
There a lot of "experts", most of them never post in an internet forum.

Re: Mr. William c. Stump
Bill hated the internet. He thought it took away from in-person meetings -- and Bill wasn't exactly the friendly type --which made no sense to those that knew him. He was really the first big USA Expert in field of Third Reich medals and decorations and practically owned all of them including many rare prototypes at one point or another. The only medal he was never able to obtain was an original National Prize for Art and Science. He had a couple of prototypes of it but never the final awarded version. Bill also had many contacts in Germany with recipients and family members whom he bought most of his stuff. His collection was like a museum and probably better. It will be interesting to see what Felton comes up with. For the most part his videos are fine but he also makes many errors especially in identifying people in photographs -- mistook Otto Dietrich for Heinrich Muller, Wilhelm Bruckner for Roehm, Schreck instead of Sepp Dietrich etc etc.

Re: Mr. William c. Stump
I think the upcoming video is more to do with how Ribbentrop's awards came into possession of the previous owner.
No suggestion of any skulduggery on Bill Stump's part.

Hi Mark Costa,
Thank you very much for your statement, I have one more question; how does this Militaria Weblog relate to the late Mr. Stump:
https://wcstumpmilitaria.blogspot.com
Is that the same name as another expert, or what is behind it ?
Kind regards from Germany!

The website does not relate to Bill at all. It seemed to have been created after his death. I have never been able to determine who this is but I can say that almost all of what is said there is true. Obviously whoever it is, used Bill's name as it is an attention grabber. There are fakes everywhere that are being sold as originals. That is why I mostly stay away from that other well known forum. Very little actual research is being done over there at that site and it shows.

Thanks Mark,
As a long-time collector, I know the circle of collectors is small, even fewer "experts" populate the internet, the true experts keep a low profile, for understandable reasons.
I didn't expect anything else, the supposed "anonymity" of the Internet pushes something like this, the topic is not new.
* Addendum, allow me to give you a rudimentary idea of the person behind this weblog.
The intent is good, the circle is very small, and I wouldn't accuse anyone of bad intent...
It's pretty pathetic to refer to a collection of a deceased collector, that shows ignorance and contempt, most certainly also a sign of the times...
