I have noticed when viewing ground dug metals. The pins look in good shape. Was wondering what most pins on the badges were made of

I believe that some were made from brass, although most were steel.

Has anyone known of these being home-grown as opposed to wartime digs? Remember the old 'Victory Gardens" from WWII? They still may exist; no longer growing vegitables, instead using reproductions for this purpose. It would serve no purpose for one to use a genuine badge; at least the way I see it.
